Most of our shots were on target. Most of theirs weren't even shots. BBC missed that stat then?

After each goal it must be fully a minute before the game restarts so that's 6 minutes out of 90 minutes (around 7%) time possession they had that counts for sod all.
I heard mention they had more passes also, however this was because they were clueless side to side drivle whilst City were quick and incisive, normally resulting in an effort on goal thus giving Spurs back possession via either a Goal Kick or as happened 6 times a restart from a Kick-Off.
In short, if multiple occurrences of Kick-Offs add to your possession stats then I'll gladly accept less possession than all our opponents.
