I was there that day.
One bit of weird trivia about that game - kickoff was brought forward an hour to 2pm because the floodlights at Halifax weren't powerful enough once it was fully dark for a game where highlights were going to be on TV.

I never went to Halifax or Shrewsbury in 1979 and 1980.
But I am happy to say that I managed to attend every single FA Cup game ( including 2 replays) in 1981.
With my younger brother and his pal Keith ( R.I.P ).

I did, muddy as fuck and was at the wall at the front, don’t really remember too much apart from a man hole cover wide open at the side of the pitch and thinking someone could fall down it.

Yes to both, got nicked at Shrewsbury station after that game, coppers gave me a good hiding and charged me with D&D, £30 fine.
