We are just simply a better team without Nasri.....for now. I like Nasri, he's a fantastic player and at some point it will work with him in the team but for now he has to be on the bench. Silva was magic again today and able to roam all over the pitch without having Nasri in his way. I could understand Nasri playing so much whilst Yaya was away but now he's back, Silva and Nasri should not be starting together. This is not to say Nasri hasn't played well because he has but it's a bit like the Tevez situation in that we are just better and more fluid without him. I say we wait until the summer before we try to get Nasri and Silva in the same team because for now we are a little bit busy trying to win the league.

Do not take this as a negative post. I am delirious about the performance today, quite simply it was perfect. But now we have Balotelli and Yaya back Nasri is better on the bench for the good of the team.
Or... We are a better team with a fit and firing Nigel de Jong bang in form who doesn't restrict our play one little bit and allows full backs to bomb forward and creates a safety even against teams where you'd think 'we don't need de Jong against xxx' and it allows more forward players a freedom whether that's Nasri or not!

De Jong is a whole different story but equally as important depending on your views. He has been immense these past few weeks and that has been a welcome boost to the attacking element of the team.

Doesn't take away the fact that Silva is much more influential without Nasri

I think you are confused as to the meaning of the word fact.

I think i read somewhere about a statistic that suggested that Nasri created an opportunity in less time than Silva. Something like every 35 minutes. This is perhaps wrong.

Silva has created 75 chances from 2059 minutes (3.28 per 90 minutes played)
Nasri has created 49 chances from 1258 minutes (3.51 per 90 minutes played)

I'd still say Silva has by far been the most influential. Look at the derby, Silva made at least two of our goals where he wasn't credited with a chance created or assist.

Thread title is too much of a paradox to handle on a Monday morning.

And having read the latest additions to the thread, there's only 1 conclusion I can draw - I must still be asleep.

Ah right, my bad then.

I expect nasri to become more influential come next season.

I still don't understand why so many are taking this as a slant on Nasri. I don't know how many times I have to say it but I rate Nasri and know he will be a good player for us. However, at this stage of the season it's what's best for the team that counts and it has been proven time and again that we are better with Silva playing without Nasri.

No it hasn't.
