Diego Costa

Hardly seems prolific. He scored 20 in 44, but 8 of those were in the domestic cup. He only got 1 in 3 in the league.

Just like Jovetic, you can't just look at goal scoring stats for a player like this. Costa supported Falcao in many ways and acted as the perfect foil. He had a great season and was arguably better than Falcao at times in the second half of it. He'd be a top signing for the Dippers I think.

Watched him a few times for Atletico last year - horrible ****!
Micey, diving, spitting, gobshite trouble causer.

100% correct: I saw him play for Albacete against my local team, Salamanca, a few years ago. He spat at one of Salamanca's defenders at the end of the match and caused a real punch up.

His trainer at the time, Juan Ignacio Martínez (who was coach at Levante last year and this year is in charge of Valladolid) told me that he was a player with a great future but that he was a right nasty piece of work.

He did, however, have a good season last year with Atlético Madrid, teaming up well with Falcao. Most Spanish defenders know just how to wind him up, though.

Steer clear, please.

I have seen him a few times for athletico this season on the box. All I can say is I hope city are considering a move because he is (for me) a mix between ibrahimovic and tevez. He hassels defenders and does his bit defending but is also one hell of a powerful forward. At 6"3 and 85kg he is a unit equal to negredo but with the typical Brazilian flair that the samba nation tends to provide ( jo excluded ).

We don't really need strikers and are weaker in more important areas but he is the complete package and can see a lot of big clubs gunning for his services, what are your thoughts?

You're right, he would be a handful in this league. He's also been linked with Liverpool too, just what they'd need if Suarez buggered off. There was a thread for him in summer http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=286027&p=7039652&hilit=diego+costa#p7039652

This thread probably wants merging with it.

Just signed a new contract in August, presumably bumping up his previously reasonable buy-out clause. Plus i don't think the player is in a rush to leave.

Also with Jovetic, Aguero and Negredo i don't think he'd bring anything we don't already have, other than an extra option. Quality player, but i don't see the sense behind paying what would be a huge sum of money for him. We need to invest in central midfield and defence, not in another striker.

Totally agree, we need someone who can keep the midfield together and offers the defence some protection when we need it (if he can score goals as well then even better), and we need a top central defender who can sort the defence out especially when Kompany is missing. If he can also chip in with goals from set pieces then that's a bonus.

These are the two areas we need improvements as a priority, however if players become available in other areas that are an improvement over what we have then we should sign them if we can, but not at the detriment to the areas that need strengthening first. I'd rather we spent £35 million on a top defender who guarantees a sharp improvement than spend £15-£20 million on two players who are no better than what we have.

I also think Dzeko needs to move on, he isn't right for our team, or the Prem, and the guy needs to play regularly, he's too good to sit on our bench. We don't really need 4 strikers with our squad but it is nice to have. I admit Costa is probably also too good to sit around but he may be relied on more to step in when rotation is needed. Dzeko just doesn't seem able to be at his best when asked to play the odd 10-15 mins at the end of games (I know he did it last season but he ain't performing this one !)

Garcia is another who isn't good enough for us, nice tidy player in other leagues, but exposed in the Prem (or maybe it's just the way he is asked to play for us). Admittedly we don't have options at the moment but if the two positions listed above are addressed then he will be surplus to requirements.

This need a ragcafe laughing face!

Regarding Costa the player, this year I've been very impressed with him, last season I thought he was a decent mobile target man but a poor finisher now he's added goals to his game. If we are to continue with Aguero + a technically good hard working target man he would be perfect.
