Diego Forlan

Would anyone actually want him?

Me... He has been prolific this season and looked good last year too. He is being linked with Real, Barca and a host of other top teams. You dont get linked with those type of outfits if your "shite" and these teams dont do failure in the transfer market as a rule. If he is available and we dont get Eto'o then I would say go for it, ok he had a bad time in the premier but he was a lot younger and will now have a point to prove in my eyes.

I think its too big a gamble. If he doesnt start well then his history would make him hated to a point where I think he would end up a broken man. Having said that as long as we have Benjani I would find anyone preferable.

not my fault! said:

I just think he has matured enough to hack it here now, the spanish league is much closer to our own than any other and he does well there. If he had been in Italy then I would say dont bother, look at Bianchi! But he hasnt been in Italy and winning the golden boot in Spain with little support around him is a good sign to me. Eto'o came second but had Messi et al supporting him and feeding him the chances. Dont forget also that Torres was the top dog at Atheltico and now it's his time to shine, a goal every 2.1 games isnt shit.

If we cannot get Eto'o i'd take Forlan like a shot. It shows how good he is when Barcelona have declared interest in him.
People doubting his ability cannot be taken seriously. Don't judge him off his Man united days. He is a totaly different and more confident player. He was in the prem like 5 years ago haha. He is a class finisher, who can shoot with both his left and right foot from any angle. Alot of Atletico fans think he is better than Aguero, and we need someone who can pop the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.

He's now won the European Golden Boot twice and has been banging in more than Eto'o and Villa.

Big decision: is he a different player to the one who left the rags? Are Eto'o and Villa going to find the Prem is a lot more difficult than spain?

Depends who else we get, but if he's one of two or three coming in up front and Eto'o etc won't sign then he'll probably be a good buy.
