You may have to apologise, there's a lot of chatter about this at the moment

Until richards30 says it's a done deal then it's not a done deal.

sorry to burst your bubble meathead but only ever commented when buying/ trying to buy from arsenal. but you carry on being the idiot of the forum.

Chill Winston. It was a joke, in future I'll say "Until VincentVincentKompany says it's a done deal then it's not a done deal" no need for the petty insult.

One of the top young English talents.

He's bossing games in the Championship at 18.

He reads the game exceptionally well for his age. His ball control and range of passing is very good, also not scared to get stuck in.

He's been linked to Barcelona and Arsenal and I can see why. He'll be playing in the Premiership in a year or 2.

He'll be an England regular in the future as a deep lying playmaker.

Star midfielder Diego Poyet has rejected a new contract offer and decided to quit Charlton Athletic.

The highly-rated 19-year-old burst into the first team in the second half of last season but that didn’t stop him being voted as the player of the season by Addicks supporters.

However, he became a free agent this summer and has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and current champions Manchester City.

And it looks like a top flight switch is on the cards after the youngster decided not to return to Sparrows Lane for pre-season training.

As a homegrown talent Charlton will now be entitled to compensation for bringing Poyet through the ranks, although there will be no transfer fee because he was out of contract.

Charlton director Katrien Meire said: “We are extremely disappointed that Diego has turned down our offer for him to stay with us.

“We did all we could to persuade him to remain with the club where he has played from a very young age.

“Along with our fans, I enjoyed watching his progression last season and hoped we would continue to enjoy his development at The Valley for a while longer.

“Although disappointed, we will continue with our recruitment strategy for the 2014/15 season and do everything we can to ensure the Charlton squad is as strong as possible going into the match at Brentford on August 9.”

We should go for him IMO.

Sign him on a 5 year deal and loan him about for a few seasons. This lad is quality, bossing games in the Championship aged 18.

He's a free agent so we will only have to pay a development fee of £400k.

Trust me, that could be an absolute bargain in a few years.

Can't see a reason we shouldn't go for him, small cost and potential for a big gain. Get him playing in preseason then depending on performance get him a good loan to the right sort of league/team to enhance his abilities.

Edit: And considering the stupid prices homegrown talent can go for... 30 something million for luke Shaw ffs.

I think in the last couple of years City haven been attracted the very best youth from all over the world. Therefore it would expect there's no vacancy for this player to what we already have. Unless he would be a very big talent that comes available on a free, but than it wonders me why he has never seriously been linked to any of the topteams. Not even Sunderland ...

Linked to Sunderland (where his Dad coaches) and Chelsea (where his Dad's a legend) as well as us...

All things being equal, you'd have to think there'd be some extra lure to those clubs over us simply due to links.

Wouldn't mind him in the squad though.
