Diogo Costa

Probably not, it was the summer Pep arrived and he took one look at Hart and realised he needed somebody that summer. He knew Bravo and what he wanted. If we’d have got the Bravo that he knew he’d probably have been okay.
Anyway he wasn’t so I presume the scouting system then found Ederson. Either way for keepers there is a lot more to look at than a few games on TV.
Yes and we actually wanted Ter Stegan but walked away with Bravo.

Hopefully this is just Medes being Mendes. No way our scouting team prefer this guy over Joan Garcia or Lucas Chevalier, who would both be far cheaper as well

Joking aside, it’s actually pretty mental how shit Eddie is at saving pens. You’d think balance of probabilities would result in at least a handful being saved, lol.
Always said he’d get closer to saving a penalty if he stood on the halfway line !

To be honest I had to google him, he plays for a team 16th in the Italian league. Can’t believe many have see more than a handful of games on TV which, is no place to make a proper judgement of a keeper.
You can literally see his games for the Japanese national team. His stats far surpass the team he plays for . Bernabe is having a strong season too

Linked with the rags today, so maybe Mendes is using us to rinse them

Suzuki is class would also appeal to the Japanese market which soriano would love, also he would really get us back on our bike, and rev the crowd up

Seems like it, and I’ve hardly seen Costa play either, but for a keeper there is so much more scouting to do, than most outfield players they need to watch whole games to see what concentration when not involved is like, how he handles pressure, how he organises and commands his defenders, how he reads the game, as well as distribution and keeping. These takes months and probably hundreds of hours of scouting attending games and research.
If he’s the choice of our scouts and goalkeeping team, then we have to trust them.

It’s funny looking at scouting reports online this season he’s had a lot more mistakes than previous seasons. But before that he was considered one the top keepers in Europe. High pass percentage and save percentage. This season he’s made more mistakes than the previous combined

Strengths:
  • Shot-stopping:
Costa is known for his strong shot-stopping abilities and can make match-winning saves.

  • Comfort with the ball:
He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and can distribute the ball effectively, even with long passes.

  • Decision-making:
Costa displays composed decision-making under pressure, both in front of goal and when playing out from the back.

  • Attitude:
He is known for his calm and composed demeanor, transmitting a sense of serenity to the team.

  • Physical attributes:
Costa is described as a strong and athletic goalkeeper, capable of playing under pressure.
Areas for Development:
  • Occasional lapses: While generally reliable, Costa has been known to make occasional mistakes, such as the costly misjudgment in the World Cup defeat to Morocco. He has made more mistakes this season than the previous combined.
