Diogo Jota & his brother Andre have died in a car crash

RIP to both Jottas. A shocking tragedy. I had a bump in my car last night and have been feeling a bit sorry for myself, but this news has put my incident in perspective. No words really that haven't been said. No amount of condolences could ever be enough for his wife and family.

Football-wise, he was a very clever player with a great eye for goal.

Awful news that. RIP.

Glad most on here are being respectful. I think most of us are smart enough to understand football rivalry only really matters within the context of entertainment and being interested in football. Outside of that, it's not that important.

100%. There will be some Liverpool fans lurking on here or seeing what is being said and I wouldn't want them to see anything but respect for such a tragic accident.

this news really does put football rivalries into perspective.
At the end of the day it’s just people.

Well said, unfortunately all forgotten in a few days - rival players get so much abuse at a young age and only when they die is there all round sympathy and some nice comments, i won't mention the other thread here of a young English player who gets pages and pages of abuse, it's sad to see but seems the way human nature generally is.

It hardly happens that active high-profile footballers pass away for some reason. Part of the reason why this doesn't feel real. Absolutely awful news

Maybe not the time and place for starting a discussion about it, but seem to recall Sergio having a real scare in a car accident some years ago while with us? Obviously also an heart scare right after leaving us

He was coming back from a concert in Amsterdam, when the taxi taking him back to the airport had a near miss with another car and collided with a barrier. Thankfully, he only suffered broken ribs and missed a few games, but it demonstrates just how fragile and precarious life can be sometimes. What an awful thing to happen.

Horrible Horrible News
Rest In Peace to Both Jota and His Brother I can’t even begin to imagine how the family is feeling
