"Disappointing" attendances

Trains are only possible if you stay over in Manchester. The last train south midweek is 22:07 - Good luck with that.
Well aware of that time! It’s definitely not worth the risk. Outside the capital, the two biggest cities in the country, and you can’t get a train from one to the other at quarter past fucking ten at night.

Small-time attitude. Embarrassing. The Swiss and the Germans know the value of a good railway infrastructure; sadly, we do not.

give over. He’s being respectful to our opponents like he does with them all. What else can you compliment United with? Don’t be so sensitive.

He will be saying to the players “This lot are shit. Give hem them the hammering they deserve”.
Why compliment them at all and if he is going to then complimenting them on one of the only things they currently are superior to us on is unnecessary. He could just trot out the usual cliches "great squad, full of internationals" , "dangerous strikeforce" , "great result at the weekend" , "we already know how good they can be from the league game" etc etc etc none of which would bother sensitive fans like me because we know we have a better team than them.

When he bigs up their history it rankles because they do have a more successful history and we don't want our manager alluding to that

The irony is the game that had the largest amount of empty seats that was staged in Manchester/Salford was last week at the Swamp , more than 25k below capacity and around 90% empty at the full time whistle , move a week onwards and we attract the third highest crowd in the FA Cup when the game is live on terrestial TV , and we get shitloads of criticism , the media can just go and f*ck off.
We can’t do anything to control the media, but when it is coming from the MANAGER, that’s another story.

He lives in the city in a million dollar apartment, he has a multimillion pound contract, and he ONLY JUST FIGURED OUT that the fan base is economically depressed? WTF? Talk about tone deaf!

Fulham, Sunday morning, on TV, in an early round of the cup...what was he expecting?

We can all complain about the media not harping in about Utd’s attendance and empty seats, but they regularly get over 70,000 and their stadium is lauded across the globe, so no journals are going to try to turn that tide without a lone line of games they can point to. However, City have been tagged with this since the bad old days at the Etihad, when we couldn’t fill it, so it’s just lazy journalism on their part to miss the actual facts of how many people we get in a regular basis....and no one cares.

BUT...it’s a different kettle of fish for your own manager to say it out loud, in the same sarcastic way he says half the things he says, about tens of thousands of people who won’t make his annual salary in a lifetime of long hours and hard work while following THEIR club!

No, Pep doesn’t get a free pass from me on this one.

He’s playing the psychology game. They have the history. They should be able to come back, as they’ve done many times before, including the Champions League Final. We are newbies to the big stage, etc, etc, etc... That all puts the pressure in them to have to come out and perform and the more open the game, the more holes we have to exploit.

Oh, and 99.9% of players and managers don’t give a shit about 99.9% of what is said in the media before the game...any game...because they all know it’s bollocks and that teams are forced to talk to the media.

Slight difference in your comparison.
City v United.
Real v barca.
2 biggest clubs in Spanish history.
City v scum they have won a bit more than us so not like for like comparison.
So a half decent manager or even Ole could tell his team that they are bigger and better than us and that we know it - scared of them even.

It's his way. He's polite about our opponents. It's not something I particularly want him to say but I definitely don't want him to be rude about opponents. The more telling response he gave is when asked about who their threats are without Rashford and he points out we beat them at OT with Rashford.

He wants to guard against complacency and also he knows the importance of mentality and having a winning mentality run through a successful club, which is not something that you build overnight: it takes years. And, that is why he won't stop talking about it. Also, it's actually a way of bigging up our achievements.

Talksport shows just now how these comments have affected the general football base. Alan Brazil sports breakfast, dumb co-presenter, if they can't sell out for the derby what can they sell out for? Dumb ex-football "Jamie" - "nothing! They might have a billionaire owner but they haven't got the fan base of United or Liverpool.". No mention of Old Trafford not selling out for the derby of course .

That’s why they are known as the history clubs, they have a continually changing history.

Yeh - unfortunately I had flicked on just in time for that particular insight........
