Have enjoyed the ride so far - but today he got it badly wrong - once Fernandinho was out it was no time to p*ss about with two up front - I'm left totally baffled by what happened today ... Yaya is getting some stick but he was hung out to dry by Pellegrini ..

You're baffled. Well let me sum it up for you. Manuel is going to play 2 up from till the cows come home.
This is the style we are going to play. Along the way some better teams are going to adapt better to our
play and sometimes beat us. But we hope that our play/style will more often than not win games.
If we lose like tonight, Manuel will be back on the training ground practising the system and explaining
exactly where the players fell short. Which for me tonight was allowing ourselves to be harried, ie not showing
enough composure in possession and giving the opposition too much time in possession. Also on top of this
our front 2 were not at their best so a lot broke down in the final third and Chelsea countered admirably.

Re: Pellikeegan

Yes he lost a game so he must go let's get Hughes back maybe Sven?

This sort of flip flopping is reminiscent of spoilt United fans expecting every game to be a win. Jose was lucky and we were poor not brain science not tactical genius just the rub if the green.

chelsea is Next stoke city.....

Nonsense. Chelski were quality today. This wasn't them stifling Barca or Bayern. They won it fair and square, creating more clear cut chances and always looking to break.

They also, crucially, scored first; with a left foot pile driver from their right back.

Pellers will carry the can as manager, both in the press and on the forum. I pity Norwich. They will have tonight's result taken out on them.

Just had another look at the stats and our pass completion was 83% against their 73%; we also won 32 tackles compared to their 15 (but some people post that they wanted it more).

The stats don't tell the real story though and you know that - we were totally outplayed tonight, it must have been about 80 mins til we had our first shot on target.

Don't think they wanted it more than us but they were certainly set up better and the shape of team was better IMO.

They hit the post 4 times! What fucking game were you watching!

They didn't need to tackle as we usually gave them the ball without them having to bother. And most of those completed passes involved the back four and Hart I bet.

Is there really any point in having Milner and Rodwell?

Not if they're injured. It's OK saying Rodwell can do this and that, but he was bloody awful
against Watford. So what games can we ease him back in ????

Exactly. Rodwell probably wouldn't beat out most of the midfielders in the relegation battlers. I honestly think he'll end up somewhere like Norwich or in the Championship.

He's tactical inept. Great man manager but tactical very poor. I would say at least it's a wake up call before barca but we had a similar wake up call against bayern at home - changed the formation after 60 mins. Tonight should have changed it at half time.

Yep. 1st defeat in 21. He's really, really inept.

And Dzeko and Yaya missed as well as Silva so are we converting non goals as being over whelmed?

Thought Chelski were excellent did not see much anti football to be honest they were just far far more motivated better organised and were better drilled.

Seem to remember we did not take many prisoners and we were also more pragmatic when we won the title

They were time wasting from the first 5 minutes and strangled the life out of the game. Pulls would be proud.

Fuck me thats blinkered

Be fair. Most of Hart's passes consisted of punting the ball as hard as he could to the halfway line where we inevitably won almost none of the aerial battles.

The thing that I don't understand and especially from the media, is that this is MP's first season and this isn't his squad.

I'm sure that's the reason why he didn't rush to make any rash decisions in the January transfer market because he's still assessing the squads needs.

And look at the performances he's getting from a team that isn't really his, players like Nasri, Milner and Kolarov have come on loads already this season.

I can't wait until he gets his own team in.

I like Pellers, he's already proved himself to me but today he dropped bollock. Refused to change the rigid formation that wasn't working and his subs were way off. We all have bad days at the office but I hope this is the only one Manuel has this season

Yet Chelsea did not have a large amount of possession (35%) and we made 32 tackles (more than twice as many as them). We also had a very creditable pass completion of 83%; that was below our season average of 87%; although possession was well up on our season average.

We were sloppy on their goal and not clinical enough at the other end.

You don't just win games from tactics. He is a terrific man manager and gets the best out of the players. We were tactically outclassed tonight and anyone who knows anything about football would have brought on a midfielder for one of our strikers at half time - we were being over run.

Play with that formation against Barca and we are fucked.

Tactically owned tonight.

We are still in four competitions just, however I think we watched the Champions elect tonight, I'll leave it to you all to decide who you think it is.

Over run in midfield we could have been on the end of a six three thrashing tonight on a different day.

Men against boys tonight in every position both on the pitch and dugout imo!!
