Discussing Religion with Kids

Nope. If you are at the point of understanding the nonsense that religion is, explain what religion is, but absolutely point out the nonsense that it is.

You wouldn’t leave your kids to decide whether standing in front of a car is good for them or not. You’d point out the danger.

Some of the most intelligent people to have lived haven't found it to be nonsense. I doubt you could say the same about standing in front of a car.
 
If they thought it was the wrong way to believe then they wouldn't believe in it, would they?
Which makes it even more stupid.
If you cannot respect someone elses view, if you cannot be tolerant of other people different belief your religion cannot be that good.

It allows people to justify their bigotry I suppose.

And for those who need some sort of structured moral framework to prop up their lives because they can't understand the basic principle of "Just don't be a dick" without some dusty old story book to guide them it's probably quite useful.

Oh, and those who wish to be absolved of their sins...
