Sadly we have this end of season tour thing to draw any agony out to the maximum.

Pellegrini won't go on the end of season tour if he isn't going to be manager next season IMO.

Sven did

I wondered which bright spark would point that out.

We had very different owners and executives then. Can't see Txiki and co behaving like Dr T.

the sooner we can make the new appointment the better. give the new guy as long as possible to prepare a squad for next season.

Completely agree. The team is playing better without Yaya but he'd be playing had he not been injured. He'd be playing in a central two with Lampard in front rather than more forward with the two Ferns behind as he should be played. It's too little too late from Pellegrini this season. I don't want to be stuck with a similar manager to Wenger who will bemoan opposition tactics, talk down on Chelsea and meanwhile win nothing but win nothing playing the right football. Yes I want to see attacking football but there's a time and a place for it. Sometimes it is best to settle and sometimes it's best to stop the opposition taking points than it is to take all 3. It might go against their philosophy but the league is 38 games long and the philosophy will show through over that time.

Whether Pellegrini knows this and whether he's just a victim of a poor squad this season that needs refreshing who knows. But I don't think the board will give him another year. I'd imagine they've made the decision and I would also expect to see rumours strengthening should Bayern lose to Barca in the semis over the next week or so. I think that will spell the end of Pep in Munich and his links to us will strengthen. Fortunately by then we should hopefully have 3rd all but sewn up.

I reckon most alternative managers would want to keep Yaya. Most managers have big egos and the challenge of getting the best out of him would appeal to them.

Think it'll be like the Tevez situation that the incoming manager won't get a choice.

I think the board handled the Tevez situation well. We could have frozen him out and made nothing, instead we played him, got his name out there and made a bit of money. That's what the board are there for. They have to support the manager but they have to ensure that rash decisions and bust ups that occur do not cause financial or other issues. With Yaya no incoming manager should get to decide whether he stays or go. I am 100% sure that the main board have a list of targets and a list of those they wish to sell. We'll try to push players out at the same time we're looking to get players in and we'll try to do business as soon as possible.

I also think the decision over Pellegrini has been made but the board have learnt from previous errors and are quite rightly keeping Schtum. I guarantee should Pep be given the managers position that Txiki does absolutely everything he wants!

Have I missed something. These last few pages seem to be confirming that pellers is going. If this is so, please state the source. I suspect it is just wishful thinking in action though.

It's not rocket science. Don't play him in a midfield two, release him from defensive duties which aren't his strong point, and play him in a more advanced role where he frightens opposition defences to death. I predict that if he's sold this is where the team that signs him will use him, and we'll be watching clips of Yaya at his best for a few years to come.

Playing Yaya in his favoured position puts Merlin in a less favoured position. I know which I prefer and think is better for City

Yaya Toure is best utilised as a quarterback playing in Navas, Aguero etc.

That's what players like Del Piero, Scholes, Pirlo do as they get older. They go deeper to find space and use their technique

In hindsight we should have sold him, but at the time how could we. Now we are stuck with him and he's stuck with us so he had better sort himself out. We should treat him just like any other player, and if he's not fit enough and the rest of the team has to adapt for his presence (only play 1 forward) then it's too much of a sacrifice

Exactly. And irrespective of what his best position is Toure wants out and has been actin like a **** since last summer. He's getting sold for that reason as much as for any footballing reasons.
