Excellent post. Not sure I completely agree as I feel the best option would be to get rid of pellegrini now, give PV the last 6 games and then in the summer make decisions on who the new manager will be & what players are to be made available.

There are some serious questions and maybe rethinking needed from those above though. Isn't the philosophy regarding players & managers in particular that they have a certain shelf life and maybe 3 years is the cycle for keeping things fresh etc?

What manager is going to come in and bring on our youth players if he's unlikely to be here in 3 years? If the manager hadn't got a long term view then it's flawed isn't it?
Is PV ready though? Just imagine if he came in for the final 6 games and won them all, there would be massive clamour for him to be given the job full time just like we did with Pearce.

Now I'm not saging Paddy is Pearce MKII, but I'd hate to throw him into the pit if he's not yet ready to be a full time PL/CL manager. Having said that comparisons will obviously be drawn with Pep, but I'd hate for us to put him in ahead of schedule only for it to fuck up and damage his confidence.

I suppose the only way we'll ever know is to try him, but I really don't want us to lose him because he was forced to come in and cover a team in crisis.....

Paddy won't be Pearce mk 2, but he also probably isn't Guardiola MK 2 either, this clamour for Vieira isn't based on any facts, only those that see him work everyday will have any idea if he is up to taking us through 6 games let alone longer term. Even Guardiola had experience in a league with Barca B . He may be a future manager, he may be another Guardiola but I've no idea, and neither does anybody else on a forum.
My guess is he will go and manage somewhere else probably abroad with a view to bringing him back in the future or have him work here as a number 2.

I like Vieira. And I think he will do greta managing the egos. He is also hugely respected. However I have no idea what he's like in terms of tactical nous. Our current managers has years and years of experience and still looks tactical inept so appointing Vieira is a big risk on that front. However if Pellers is gone this summer then why not sack him now and give Vieira that experience?

All this talk of Pep does my head in, get a feeling that if we are indeed waiting for him we will get our fingers burnt. Get rid of Pellegrini, hire Vieira. Simple.

Paddy may well go on to be a great manager but he hasn't managed any first team yet, never mind an elite level club. Talk of handed him the gig is ridiculous right now given the pressure and expectations.

He needs time to learn his craft.

How do you know Vieira is any good ? Surely the people who saw what Guardiola had that made him able to step up are the best placed to make that judgement.

this is not the Swales era Pellegrini won't be sacked until the end of the season if at all he will be..

To soft and easy going by far, he's waiting for his pay-off than back to sunny Spain.

Can you imagine him bollocking Toure? ***kin no chance!

wheres our corners, headers, shots from?

what do they do in training FFS!

Has he gone yet?

It's all that's relevant really isn't it

Interesting that Pab Zab is saying that the team need to look at themselves and that they lacked believe after the equaliser whereas Pellers just keeps banging on about the points still available.

Seems to me that MP is playing a straight bat to maximise his pay off.

If you're going to pick Millner then play him up front he might as well have picked Dzeko. No leaders, heart, fight, desire, pressing or tracking back and that was shameful. This from a squad of players that have been there seen it and won it all is incredible. I think i am right in saying there were NINE players in that rag team yesterday that we took apart with ease last season and they had us chasing shadows yesterday.

Nobody seems to know what job they are supposed to be doing, who is tracking who, when to move out or stick in defence,a defence that is changed every game so has no time to gel or become an efficient unit. That is down to the manager and his organisation or lack of it. This isn't fucking Spain where the top players and teams can just turn up and win most weeks this is the toughest league in the world where every team fights for every point, well except for us!He can't just send out his best eleven players on paper and think we will win.Any fool who has watched Fellaini knows he peels of to the far post yet we leave our two small full backs to pick him up ending in the expected disaster.

Our lightweight midfield and frail naive defence is being exposed now EVERY game to the extent every team must fancy their chances against us. I really cannot see us winning another game this season. We have Spurs and Swansea away and Villa and QPR at home who are fighting.......there's that word again...for their lives and at this moment in time this shower haven't got the stomach for a fight.

If...and it is a big if...we limp into fourth place there is a massive job ahead for whoever comes in and some tough decisions to be made.
