Just imagine if he came in for the final 6 games and won them all, there would be massive clamour for him to be given the job full time just like we did with Pearce.RACHACE said:Excellent post. Not sure I completely agree as I feel the best option would be to get rid of pellegrini now, give PV the last 6 games and then in the summer make decisions on who the new manager will be & what players are to be made available.
There are some serious questions and maybe rethinking needed from those above though. Isn't the philosophy regarding players & managers in particular that they have a certain shelf life and maybe 3 years is the cycle for keeping things fresh etc?
What manager is going to come in and bring on our youth players if he's unlikely to be here in 3 years? If the manager hadn't got a long term view then it's flawed isn't it?
Now I'm not saging Paddy is Pearce MKII, but I'd hate to throw him into the pit if he's not yet ready to be a full time PL/CL manager. Having said that comparisons will obviously be drawn with Pep, but I'd hate for us to put him in ahead of schedule only for it to fuck up and damage his confidence.
I suppose the only way we'll ever know is to try him, but I really don't want us to lose him because he was forced to come in and cover a team in crisis.....
Paddy won't be Pearce mk 2, but he also probably isn't Guardiola MK 2 either, this clamour for Vieira isn't based on any facts, only those that see him work everyday will have any idea if he is up to taking us through 6 games let alone longer term. Even Guardiola had experience in a league with Barca B . He may be a future manager, he may be another Guardiola but I've no idea, and neither does anybody else on a forum.
My guess is he will go and manage somewhere else probably abroad with a view to bringing him back in the future or have him work here as a number 2.
I like Vieira. And I think he will do greta managing the egos. He is also hugely respected. However I have no idea what he's like in terms of tactical nous. Our current managers has years and years of experience and still looks tactical inept so appointing Vieira is a big risk on that front. However if Pellers is gone this summer then why not sack him now and give Vieira that experience?
