Neville is fast becoming the only pundit (whilst commentating live) who will give City any credit at all for what is happening on the pitch.

the others criticise and snipe until we score an awesome goal then they gush for 2 mins but Neville is quite level headed and sees bigger patterns etc. Perhaps cos he's won many titles etc, i dunno. It's mental as i despised him as a player but im much happier if he commentates than many others.
Agree, but to be fair he has been consistent for the last few seasons as a pundit. He is insightful in his analysis and doesn't follow the usual lazy media prejudice. Hated him as a player but by a long way he is the best football pundit imo.

Have criticised Pellers in the past for his naive tactics in the big games but yesterday he got it absolutely right. When we are missing possibly our best 2 players I'd have certainly taken a point before the game.

Hopefully the days of seeing yaya in a midfield 2 in the big games is now a thing of the past.

I'm still not a fan of the Yaya-Fernando-Fernandhino combination, but overall I think he got the tactics right. Great decision to pick Otamendi.

Unless he improves, he wont be playing at all in the big games.

We'd have been better off with Navas/Nasri in for KDB and KDB playing where Toure was.

We've got the same problem as Utd with Rooney. A player who has been integral to City over the last 5 years being past his best, but signs in the last 2 games that Pellegrini realises his defensive weakness and is moving him further forward where the defensive aspect of his game is less important. However when the likes of Silva, Nasri and Aguero return you wonder if he will still feature. I think he could improve his fitness. Anyone can do that. It's not pace. he still has it in short bursts - it's his general mobility when we don't have the ball - that's stamina. Does he have the mentality to work hard and get that back?

That is two games in a row now that you have to give plaudits to Pellegrini on his tactics. Yesterday was not just a derby, it was a chance for a major momentum swing in terms of confidence in the title. The rags are proving themselves as possible title contenders with their only shortfall being goals because they insist on playing Rooney. Put Martial central and drop Rooney and they're contenders. We played on the counter looking to avoid defeat and we defended very well. We didn't create much but a point is a great result and it leaves the rags feeling like they missed an opportunity whilst we can feel confident in our defence once again and we're top of the league.

That is the type of perfromance we will need in the CL first leg to ensure we're a threat. Play like that and we can win the competition. With Silva and Aguero back we'll have more threat on the counter too.

Although I understand why Pellegrini chose to approach the 2nd half in the manner he did, for me it was the wrong decision. It's very unlike him to chose pragmatism and a point over a victory, and in the second 45 that's certainly to my eyes the approach he took. The point because it took us top is welcome. The manner in which we got there is disappointing and frankly, a bit shit for a club with our resources.

I applaud Pellegrini hugely for yesterday, he was very good indeed but midweek he was fucking useless.

I'm not giving him credit for realising his own tactical fuckup with ten mins to go!

I don't think Pellegrini intended to play that way 2nd half. It's mainly that he, like Mancini, relys too much on Yaya, & Yaya was rubbish in all areas of the pitch 2nd half.

I think we'll look back at this as a very important point come the end of the season. Not just going top but also showing Utd that they are not good enough.
