Do you think it is the players or the system though. I have criticised Mangala many times but when you think of the others Lescott, Nastsic, Kompany, they all went backwards and now Zaba last season. we do play attacking football but I think we did in 2011/12 (scored 93 goals) and yet the defence was as diligent as ever.
The system and how the players are coached defensively , as you say it's no coincidence how EVERY defender has regressed under this manager.

The game is also about defending and this manager historically throughout his career manages teams that concede plenty of goals.

The regression of our defenders is what concerns me the most

So help me explain why Heynkes won a triple with his squad knowing he would be gone and replaced by Pep? You're trying to be balanced but your comment smacks of disbelieve us losing this one match and you wanna blame someone for feeling frustrated.

Heynkes was a better manager? Bayern were a better, more established side?

Flip side is how United were derailed when Slur Alex put an expiration date on himself.

Tbf to myself, and I'm not saying I'm right it's just my opinion, I have been consistent in my view on the option of going into this season with all the Pep speculation and Manuel's contract running down, long before this 'one match'. I thought it was a terrible idea and have said so a few times (you can either simply believe me, check my posting history in the Pellers threads or continue to believe I'm just feeling frustrated over this one match, it doesn't really matter).

I (and plenty of others) have always felt it was potentially catostrophic, and have seen nothing in this pre-season to make me think that fear was wrong. I hope it was.

The only caveat in defence of the manager is we have is he has not had a Gareth Barry at his disposal. The arrival of Pellers and the sale of Barry has heralded this defensive fragility. With a new system being adopted next year, and the failings being obvious last season if we have the same problems next year, and we miss out, it will be disappointing

I trust Mr Pellegrini, the season hasn't even started yet and some people are panicking!!

Some may be, but i think the majority are just seeing no improvement from last season with the same mistakes. We again look unfit, again the team all bombs forward and is exposed in midfield and at the back and again teams attack down the left back side as they know it's a weak spot.

I'm repeating myself now but although I'm very pleased we got Sterling I would rather we had had a great centre midfield player and a left back. I'd also like us to stop always playing the high line of defense but I guess that's Pellegrini's style.

Were there any post match quotes? Can't find any? Be interested to hear Manuel's thoughts on today...

Also be interested if he's not spoken as to why.

he will brush it under the carpet mumbling about fitness and trust and it being a friendly , he made multiple subs to save face-the perfect excuse for that fucking shambles against a German team who were scrapping at the bottom of the Bundesliga.
