At best its wishful thinking, at worst pure hope. There are no signs of either MP going, or any of Klopp, Gaurdiola, Ancelloti, and shall we add Wenger too ? coming any time soon.

Not sure I fully go along with that. Admittedly the British media seem to be leaning towards City wanting Pellegrini to stay. However equally, there are enough reputable and respected journos and publications across Europe saying that City are at the very least talking to Klopp and Ancelotti to make me think there's some truth to the stories.

There are plenty of shades of Mancini's last few months in charge in terms of where the rumours are emanating from and what they actually imply.

FWIW I've been told by two people I trust that Pellegrini's already been told he's out at the end of the season.

I hope you're right mate but who'll replace him?
Klopp would mean a complete turn on what City are looking for. Guardiola isn't leaving this summer so it really only leaves Ancelotti.

And Benitez.

Or Frank de Boer.

Going back to your post MA - that's where I struggle...

Why would you keep most of the media quiet and re-iterate your faith in the manager only to tell him he will be gone in the summer. Why would Manuel want to stay and help the club finish in the top 3 or at worst 4th if he knows he is going? Also... why would the players bother performing for him?

It doesn't add up to me. I fully believe the media have been leaked our intentions on keeping Manuel simply to ensure that everyone stays on task. I also believe that the very top have discussed other options, probably have a list of those they'd offer the job and will be having private conversations.

The problem comes when inevitably someone gets clocked doing just that... hopefully they've learnt from the Mancini saga and will handle things with a bit more honour. I think it would be crazy if the club didn't sound out Klopp or whoever is available in the summer, but it could jeopardise our league position and the rewards of the CL if they had a manager in charge who knew he was off. Unless he gets a bigger pay off if he meets his targets?! But that still seems ridiculous.

Pellers has a habit of keeping tight lipped when he does leave a club and for most part he can keep the team he is managing motivated and focused.

Exactly. There would be no way that Pellegrini's been told he has been sacked (maybe a decision has been made and he doesnt have a clue). It would be the worst piece of management from our owners. Pellegrini would have 0 motivation to win and rightly so. It would be suicidal to tell him he is off and let him stay in charge for 6 games (now 5) which could define our next year which Pellegrini wouldn't give a shit about.

We'll see, but my feeling is we'll hang on waiting for someone who we won't get, and will eventually end up in Trafford. I also don't think Klopp fits what the owner wants on the field.

Happy to be proved wrong, but my hunch is next season starts with MP because we can't entice who we want, or we end up with Sabella, or worse Benitez, in which case I'd prefer we stick with what we have.

You mean he may oversee our worst run since Hughes was pinning his hopes on a striker with no knees? If only we could see some correlation between results and Pellers knowing he is off since...well since his agent started touting him for jobs a couple of months back.

You don't have to be ITK to work it out.

I don't agree. Pellegrini is a very honourable and professional guy first and foremost. Lest we forget Madrid openly courted and employed Mourinho whilst he was in charge, and he still kept that side motivated until the end of the season. I'm sure if a decision has been made about Pellegrini's future that Txiki will have told him what that decision is.

In terms of having 'private' conversations. In football there's pretty much no such thing. If City are talking to Guardiola or Klopp or Ancelotti's agents, Pellegrini and his agent will know. That's why if City have made a decision I suspect they'd tell Pellegrini out of respect.
