It's also worth adding with Txiki that his signings in the first year won us the league, Fernandinho, Negredo, Navas and Demichelis all helped win us the league. Even last summer, Mangala, despite his price tag obviously has bags of class. Sagna was a shrewd signing on a free, and Lampard was too. Caballero to an extent was great as he helped Hart to raise his game too.
This summer if we landed Sterling, De Bruyne etc we'd owe him a lot. People don't realise it isn't like the Gary Cook era when we can just throw a huge amount of money and obscene wages to attract players, we are now operating under FFP, like last summer with our £49m net spend, so each acquisition has to be smart.
I'm more than confident Txiki will get us there, you don't come with the reputation he has for being bad at his job, and the sooner people realise that signing a player is a delicate task the better.

If his tenure goes on forever then I'd hazard a guess he's doing a good job.
People can 'judge' whenever they want as it's the nature of forums. But ultimately the people passing comment probably have too limited an understanding of his various responsibilities to have any meaningful opinions on the subject. Bit like those who make lists of players signed since he came in then make little notes next to them like "failure" or "not as good as Javi Garcia".
Haha! Yes I'd realised I had served the length of tenure up. I'm not against Txiki and he can across well when I met him briefly on the plane back from Barca.
My point is more in a job where you have many contacts then you expect some quicker wins. Yes the likes of Demi, Negredo and Fernandinho helped us win the league so there are some shorter term positives and hopefully the real success story will be long term.
I am not interested in the long lists. After all, Txiki and Pellers took credit for improving Edin as a player, only for Dzeko to be poor for much of last season (admittedly affected by having to play whilst injured at times).
Isn't that sort of the point though. You can't judge the long term yet and in the short term the business Txiki has done has for the most part been excellent. Even Mangala, someone who has been pretty heavily criticised, is so young that he could next season still be a beast for us.
The one genuinely poor signing taking into account everything I'd say was Jovetic - but again it was a risk worth taking. I wouldn't even class Fernando as a poor signing simply because he cost next to fuck all and isn't half as bad as people make out even if he isn't a top player.
I agree that Mangala has been pretty good. Most of his performance were in the 7 out of 10 bracket with Chelsea at home a 8 or 9. The media overreacted to one poor game at Hull and Elia and Clichy were let down at West Ham by the the refs assistant ignoring the Hammers being offside.
Yes Fernando is better than the criticism he has received but he hasn't been any better than Garcia so far. He may well come good next year and the balance of our team needs one of our central midfielders to be powerful in the air.
Garcia was universally derided in his first season in the PL, much like Fernando has been. There's a clue in there as to why we shouldn't be judging players after 1 season in the league and also why we shouldn't be judging our DoF over a short space of time.
