That’s the bit I don’t get. Brand himself has said since sobering up that in those days he was basically an awful person l, always off his face and up to no good and he barely remembers it.

So why would anyone think “Nope, I believe the guy who can’t remember 2006 rather than the woman with evidence to back her claim up”

Yes me too :) I don’t think he was wrong to do it in the instance that he did.

Clearly with hindsight all of it can and should be evaluated, but they’re not remotely comparable reporting.

I am very sorry to hear that, mate. Unfortunately, that is an all too common experience in the UK, US, and elsewhere.

I won’t go in to the two instances of similar treatment women I know have experienced, but I will say that only one of them even lead to charges (the one here in the states) and it is still working through the courts now about four years later because the man who raped her is the son of the former assistant district attorney for the area.

It is the CPS mate. The police will have bail dates to work to and they get the case in. The CPS are seemingly accountable to nobody. They take an age to review stuff and then begins literally months of tennis as they always bounce a case back for minor things. Those points get addressed and case sent back, the CPS send it back for something else that they didnt raise as an issue first time. They do this tactically as it buys them time to deal with other cases.
The CPS are breaking detectives across all forces in the UK and are the direct reason why there is a crisis in recruitment and retention of detectives in policing. No blame is ever laid at their feet as it is easier to blame the police in the public perception. So points like this one in which police/CPS are linked together as though they work hand in glove are inaccurate and unfair. CPS have never been worse to work with. Cunts actually

Russell Brand may be a horrible person. And if he is he is guilty he should be convicted and thrown in jail.

But the government using this as an attempt to silence him is not a conspiracy. It is a fact.

Multiple things can be true at the same time. Russell could be a degenerate. But the government might also be purposely targeting him today for his past acts because of his actions today that they disagree with.
