Tell me, what did you learn about the aliens, in that case??

its not what we learn about them, its the fact that we are debating it, and perhaps thousands are doing the same thing.

im sure it will get politizised by someone, then the real debate will begin...

Buck passing of the highest order, that response was, Aphex!

Come on, really, what is there to debate?? The aliens offer nothing to talk about, but the people living in the townships of squalor do. So, what was the point in that?? So, yes, debate about the portrayal of Nigerians as voodoo dependant, machine gun toting, wild eyed pirates/ gangsters, but about the aliens??

No. Nothing to talk about.

So, this film is almost redundant in whatever point it's making about the aliens, which is why it runs out of steam and tries to switch to another mode(unsuccessfully!).

Seen it twice, I thought/think its a great film. One mans meat & all that ...

I now wait for D10...

"District 13" is already out, I hear...

Yeah that could be quite confusing if they made it to that many sequels!

for a film that only cost $30 million to make i thought they did a very sound job on the whole and enjoyed it for what it was and did not try to rip holes out of something that was more or less just trying to be sci-fi,there are not enough of these films about anymore if you ask me!

'Sci-fi' is just ONE of the things it was exploring and another prop for the real attempt, on which it fell flat on its face!!

hardly! if the film reaches an audience that is unaware (afterall, apartheid is not as widely reported now) then the msg will get across. i dont agree about the voodoo chap. but that is another msg of the film that is to be addressed. i doubt they are basing him on all nigerians. come on bigga...

I wasn't talking about the disabled dude(thought that was a touch of class, actually!), but the whole motley crew!! The voodoo witch, the 'cannibalisation' aspect, the grinning gun carriers! That IS all stereotyping, like it or not(like all Ruskies drink vodka and are gangsters!)!

Seeming that 'apartheid' in South Africa is a 'past' issue, they bring the thing to 2010 and don't do it well at all. THAT'S my issue.

Do it properly or don't do it, at all.
