Ditching Sky

Sky and Discovery have agreed a (very) late deal and it's 'as you were'. I wonder who caved the most?

Has to be sky imo as Virgin and BT would have had a huge free promotional tool. I doubt many would take that risk at sky as their job would be no more if they saw subscribers drop with a direct correlation to when BT/Virgin used this.

Sky imo given the sheer amount of anger their customers gave them over this issue.
It looks like part of the deal was a big back log of shows for the On Demand bit (unless I'm reading that wrong):

Even more to enjoy with Sky
Great news, we can confirm that Sky will continue to carry the Discovery and Eurosport channels. This means you can still watch channels including: Animal Planet, Discovery HD, Discovery History, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Science, Discovery Shed, Discovery Turbo, DMAX, Eurosport1, Eurosport2, Investigation Discovery, TLC and Quest.

We are also delighted to announce a new deal with PBS America that will bring the best of PBS's factual programming to Sky, covering history, science, current affairs, arts and culture. We are adding over 1,000 hours of programming to our On Demand service from channels like History and National Geographic. This means ours customers can enjoy the very best factual programming available.

Happy days as its all i watch on the sky platform given i wont pay for their sports ;-)

Bit of a dilemma. Cancelled sky about 3 - 4 months ago as the price was rocketing towards £100 a month. I've retained phone line and fibre internet with them at a reduced price of £10 each for 12 months.

Trying to get a stream for the game last night via Kodi was the straw that broke the camels back.

So - do I go back cap in hand? The package I want will be the standard plus HD, sky sports and possibly bt sport. What am I looking at, £50 - £60 a month? Or do I get a zGemma and have everything in SD for £120 upfront then £30 a year.

Decisions decisions.

Can't you upgrade the broadband to Fibre? I'm assuming sky to a Fibre
