Ego is what drives these auditors. Wandering round car showrooms shoving cameras into peoples faces while they're trying to go about their work. We can all exercise our legal rights. I'm sure I can find some loophole somewhere that means I can spend my days basically trying to annoy the fuck out of decent, hardworking people but I like to think of myself as one of them. You said yourself that they push it to get a reaction. I'd suggest that's exactly what they set out to do. Same as the fuckwits who stand filming outside of police stations and then act the innocent when asked what they're up to.
Money is what drives them, but yes some love the attention and push the boundaries. They've been at it for years now and while I understand not everyone is internet savvy or aware of them companies should be. If they're on somebody's property and are asked to leave and refuse it's trespass. If they continue to refuse to leave I'd think the owners have a legal right to remove them using reasonable force. Many call the police but trespass is a civil matter, although if they won't leave I guess it could then become a breach of the peace.
As for the police they abuse their powers over and over. Even if they're told that the filming is for a YouTube channel, they want names, addresses, more information etcetera. If the auditor refuses, as is their right, they quote section 50 or some other excuse to detain and search them. It's ego driven. No criminal or terrorist is going to openly stand outside or walk into a police station then argue with the police. They know that but go ahead anyway. They have cost the taxpayer thousands of pounds in civil claims for doing this.
I'm not for or against them and like all things in life some are good some are bad. What it does highlight is how many officials and police officers try to obstruct or detain people by quoting laws and rules that they have no power to use in the circumstances.

As a result he usually gets more confrontation. It's actually quite unnerving how many tyrant's there are out there when they're given a bit of perceived power. The same with the police some behave like thugs and don't know the law, or choose to ignore it. Ego drives them, they hate being challenged. AB has sued them many times and gives any money won to charity.

Yes he does push the boundaries but legally he's doing nothing wrong. He always tells them he's filming and usually for a YouTube channel. I guess if he's looking into cars it could be viewed as suspicious behaviour. His many successful civil claims against the police proves they often overstep their powers and it's always ego driven because he's wound them up a bit.
