Really enjoyed it, not a good idea to start watchig it at 1 this morning though. Knackered.

The D, is silent

Have the Mods clocked that yet ? I fear the worst.

Dialogue is superb. Quite a number of things seem incongruous- woman viewing Acropolis etc.-so imagine the director's cut will be even lengthier.

I posted my full review on another thread with the same title a while ago, so you can refer to it if you want.

I know this does not conform with consensus, particularly in this forum but i will summarize the film as being overrated and falling short of my expectations.

But dont get me wrong you will probably enjoy it like most but the reality is that is an unstable and unconvincing film glossed and flavoured with social and political issues about the ills of man in historys past.

I will reccommend lincoln.A film with true substance and a dialogue of the real intellect and originality that we all yearn for in the souless movies of today.

Aka boring as fuck :D

I just thought
the whole thing about wanting the German speaking girl was a massive overreaction. The German fella could just have gone there saying he was passing through the area and on finding out there was a German speaking slave there, he'd like to buy her.
Plus there was absolutely nothing in the film which showed us what Django was ever thinking about anything, he just had the same look on his face throughout the film - oh apart from when he was allowed to buy that blue suit with white blouse. We never find out how he knew how to ride a horse or how he became such a good shot. Neither of which a slave of the time would have been likely to know how to do.

I didn't think the girl story was a strong enough story line to care about. I thought there would be a really good story for the last third of the film after they'd got the girl which wouldn't have caused such a big reaction. But it was a just a big shoot em up where one man outshot about forty men. The shoot out was ridiculous. How can so many men be such poor shots?

Django is a masterpiece.

Lincoln on the other hand......I actually got up after around 40 mins and walked out such was the boredom brought on by scene after scene of much of the same.
