Do Chippys still sell milk

Never saw any milk sold in a chippy back then. I actually wonder if the rules are the time would have prevented it.

On sterilised milk how awful was that stuff? Evil tasting crap. Why was it sold? Did it last longer and therefore was popular amongst the working classes as most of us didn't own a fridge?

Awful stuff but the picture of that kilted officer being served coffee by his native servant outside the tent was the first image I remember of places outside England. Probably be deemed too imperialist now.

As for stera milk no one has mentioned the metal caps you had to take a bottle-opener to.
