Do we actually need Tevez?

Definately.

Better than what we have by a mile.
Incredible work rate.
Intelligent player.
Big team player, which is why his scoring rate is not that high.

But give him a regular first team start (something that would def make City his 1st choice club), and he has all the qualities to become a potential legend.

Its about being realistic isn't it. Crouch would be a decent forward.

Obviously if Sammy E'to is available, it's not difficult to pick which one but don't we have to be realistic and one step at a time.

I agree on the eto thing, i think we have as much chance of bagging him as i have of bagging any of Girls Aloud (ok, except the ginger!!!)

A tall, powerful out-and-out goalpoacher is what's needed, someone like Drogba would be great (but obviously there's slim chance of him coming).
I don't rate Crouch, and anyway it looks like Portsmouth have money now so they probably wouldn't let him go. RSC is a gamble, as far as I can see. Too injury-prone. But Hughes knows all about him so maybe he can get him to bag 20/30 a season.

yeah, just like he knows bellamy, his 20/30 goals really helped us this season, really got over his injuries, oh wait...

We need to settle on a style of play and at the moment we are stuck between two. SWP on the right is pretty much a winger. Robinho on the left is pretty much a forward (as part of a 3 prong attack generally). Tevez IMO would replace SWP so we can be a propa 433 side.

I do think that SWP has as many goals per season in him as TEvez but I think Tevez would merit the starting position. I know that it tough to take, SWP being a favourite, but I think it's necessary to add depth in the right way, i.e. bring in players better than what we have rather than someone who'd act as backup. Over the course of the season I'd still hope for SWP to get plenty of game time.

We still need someone in the middle of the front 3 but that's another matter.

EDIT: Oh and one more thing - I think Eto'o would be much the same as Tevez (less graft more passing) on the right of the front 3 ...so I'd say we'd only get one or the other. I'm not sure who I'd prefer between the two though. Eto'o may have the greater attacking threat - like Robinho on the left - but Tevez is well used to the Prem and in a settled role may actually be the better bet. Obviously I'd be over the moon with either. (Henry too is only a wide player but he's generally on the left so I'd doubt he'd be right for us)

Tevez blends great ability and great workrate, its rare that a player blends both those qualities.

I think he'd been a great addition, a bona fide Top 4 club level player which is what we need.

You expected a player coming in in January to score 20/30 goals?

Bellamy was an excellent player for us this year. He always put in a shift, and scored goals.

In fact, if we take post-January only, I would say that he was our most important player, with maybe Given.

he is too injury prone, and if we go for RSC we will be making the same mistake, also rsc wouldn't score 20/30 goals even if he had a full season

i think we'd be going for the 4-4-2 with tevez playing off a big striker. that way we can keep robinho wide left and sweep on the right. i'd love to see swp and tevez in the same side, specifically for the work rate, defending from the front and back tracking.

doing this also saves us going in the market for wingers and focusing on more important buys such as the prolific scorer and defenders.
