Spent best part of 30 years thinking the same. However it only happened 5 or 6 times in last 9 months and I didn’t really get too down about Lyon as I had faith we would get through the group

You only need a slight shift in trajectory for your life to make you realise that every day may be your last and you should therefore "take your chances early" as we used to say in the mob..
SWMBO is due to start a course of treatment to slow down the progression of a disease that will ultimately shorten her life.. we never even considered that till she was diagnosed four years ago but now we are focused on doing the things we enjoy.. I am giving up work next April when Sue's NHS pension pays out as I already have my military pension and what I have squirrelled away from work since I left the RAF...
Life is for living so within reason who cares about tomorrow?

Losing people of my own generation has changed me. Two didn’t make 30 and two didn’t make 40. I live for the day a bit more.
When I was 16 I got friendly with a lad of about 17 from school (Marple Hall Grammar, as it happens). Quiet lad, quietly spoken, very unassuming, and now that I think of it, very mature for his age. Lovely dry sense of humour. Just a nice guy. That year he was killed in a head-on collision just down the road from where I lived. Macclesfield Road, Hazel Grove. He would've been 18 by that point. It was broad daylight, not a drop of alcohol involved of course. I clearly remember the shock we all felt when we heard the news. I think about him every few years, and think about that life cut short — bang — like that. That was nearly fifty years ago.
Life is about now… and now… and now.

I remember about 20 years ago I always thought to myself if I could see city win a trophy I'd be happy and we then got took over and duly won the fa Cup.,i then thought I'd die happy if we won the league and now all these titles and cups later the only one left on the list is the chumps league and if and when we win that what's left.
