Do you really believe the league is over...?

I cant decide what I want from the rag / dipper game next Saturday. My heart wants the rags to lose but in reality a draw would be best all around.

That would mean the maximum either team could attain would be 87 / 86 points respectively. That said I can see Palace causing the Rags problems on Monday as well.
The league is done. Finished. All over. No blue should want anything other than a dipper win.

OK. Maths. One of the many linguistic quirks we have I guess.

Anyway, Magic number is now 15 on the rags and 13 on the dippers.

I'm hoping for a few dropped points from their sides. I would rather have all the ceremony during the derby rather than have the derby still have any relevance to the table.

I knew what you meant on the math/maths thing.

However, isn't "magic number" an American baseball thing?

;)

The rags and dippers are the nearest challengers to us, if you look at their performace over the season bot are on track to finish on 80 points, sure both sides could put a run together but I can't see it. both have the CL to contend with if you look at their current form both have dropped points in 2 of their last 5 games. Also consider that the rags have to play us, the dippers and Arsenal in the last 10 games and they will be hard pushed to get anywhere near a challenge.

The reality is that if we win against Chelsea and Stoke we will be on 81 points and when we look back on the season we will realise that was when we actually won the league.

Used a lot in baseball. Sure, but the premise is the same. I've seen it used in the NFL as well, but there are generally so many tie-breakers involved that it rarely is as cut and dried. They used the same expression here last year in MLS when Toronto was trying to wrap up the supporters shield. So it is fundamentally American sport, but it works. When the number hits zero, its done and dusted. The good thing for City fans is that the goal differential is so high and that is the first tie breaker. Makes that part simple.

I remember either clinching promotion, or the Championship title in 2002 whilst not playing. I think it was a Friday night game as I was randomly in a bar in Leicester trying to get a signal on my Siemens phone to get the text from my dad.
Did Millwall do us a favour by beating Wolves?
They sure did.
Millwall won 1-0 on the Friday night so we were up and I think we clinched the title on the following day when we beat Barnsley 5-1.

As for this season; can anybody who doesn't think it is over please tell me what they've seen on the pitch that makes them think we can be caught. Multiple injuries are always a potential threat, but what have you seen on the pitch that causes concern?

If we beat Chelsea on Sunday, the league will be 100% over. After that we should concentrate only on the Champs league. THIS YEAR'S CHAMPS LEAGUE IS THE WEAKEST ONE IN MANY MANY YEARS. This is possibly the best chance for us to win it. Both Spanish giants aren't as good as they used to be, the same could be said about Bayern, PSG had big ambitions but will be knocked out, Juve probably won't go through, so basically it's a golden opportunity to win the treble in a fashionable style. I suppose we just don't believe enough that we can actually win the thing (CL I mean). But it's a lot more realistic than you think. 3-4 seasons ago winning the CL looked like an unreachable target but this year it's more real than ever before. Imagine singing "Here's to you Vincent Kompany, you've won the treble and you know" to the rags.

As United learned, it’s not over til it’s over!

I’m ecstatic at our position, and it would be easily to prognosticate, have everything work out great and then say “I told you so!” but that’s all bollocks!

It ain’t over!

I’d rather be in our position than anyone else’s, and a win on Sunday brings what seems inevitable even closer, but until we have the same number of points as the maximum any chaser can reach (so we win on GD), I’ll be contrary and say it’s not over.

Can I see us losing it from here? Absolutely not! However, I’ve watched City long enough to believe we might be looking at the possible permutations needed to fuck it up from here!!! ;-)
