The people who want to cut maintenance do so, not because they think it isn't needed, but because they want to deliver more profit. They are the same people who, as a result of poor or non-existent maintenance, when a train crashes and rolls off the track killing a dozen or so, will be uttering the oft quoted "Our hearts and prayers go out to the families, etc . . . . . . . ." They don't have a heart and they've never spouted a prayer in their lives.
