Do you support the RMT?

What "absence of political bias"?

The government is not a party to the negotiations. They're just telling the employers' side what it can and can't offer.
That was my point. The reality is that the management and leadership of these organisations are equally as responsible for there being strikes by their staff as the Unions are but we only ever hear of Unions wrecking Christmas and damaging the economy. It's never reported that Management are wrecking peoples travel plans by shortchanging the staff who actually do the work in order to make a bigger profit and fatter bonuses for themselves.

Nailed it.
As a teacher this is my opportunity to at least strike a blow, no matter how small or fleeting, against a sack of shit government who have ridden roughshod over the profession for years. We can’t retain staff, burnout is at an all time high, second only to health workers for stress-related illness.
This chance to have a voice, it couldn’t be passed up.
Same with nurses, they’re striking about pay but it’s the conditions and workload that’s the real reason.
You’ve absolutely nailed it there mate.
It's also the meeting of the flavour of the month targets that don't actually give a better service to the customer. The targets are usually created to be seen to be delivering more in terms of numbers, whilst not actually doing it in terms of service

Paying nurses would cost £1.8m
Scrapping Non-Dom status would raise £3bn +
What we witnessed today is a Govt choice to help their donors and its despicable
£1.6B but the principle is the same. The tax break for bankers came in at well over £7.5B, Truss cost £35B and Brexit will be a cost for ever but it seems the country is going to rack and ruin on the back of some people in ticket offices, some who help people on and off trains and some nurses. Who knew? Tories eh, what are they like……..

£1.8m? Surely not.

They have already had a rise awarded and paid (at least some trust were paid) more or less them same as what LG got, a flat rate £1,900, so the lowest paid qualified nurse got 7.6% for 2022/23.

The rise they got was awarded circa July, but not agreed with unions.

The NMC can waive registration fees that would help too. A bit of a con.
