They've also promised backpay will be in the Christmas pay if accepted.
Looking at the referendum timetable the result cut off point is past the last day of the pay period making it impossible to do so.
My own cost of living has gone up 33% over the three years of the dispute. 5% equates to 1.6% per year. The caveats as well mean I will be voting no. However, the feeling I get is that it will be accepted by the members just wanting the backpay asap. If it does I'll seek the redundancy in 2025.
It’s a common tactic with bosses, not just on the railway.
Intentionally make talks drag on for months and then in November offer a slightly improved shit deal and people just start working out how much back pay they’ll get for Christmas if they accepted.
As if it was some generous bonus they were offering. Rather than what they’re actually due, minus the interest the company have pocketed from not paying it in April.
