So effectively state aid to UK companies? (Or just a bribe?)UK backs £680m loan guarantee for new high-speed electric railway in Turkey
UK government backing enables completion of a 286km electric railway in southern Turkey, connecting major cities with a high-speed, lower-carbon route.www.gov.uk
There's no money to settle our dispute....
Not clear really. A lot of guff about building trade relations with turkey - a waste of time if turkey gets full EU membership. So effectively state aid to UK companies? (Or just a bribe?)
Cover for sending arms to Erdogan's mate in Azerbaijan? So effectively state aid to UK companies? (Or just a bribe?)
It is not Government money at all is it? Just Government backing if things go wrong the Gov are underwriting it, but you have to meet a high bar to get any money from them, demonstrating you have done everything possible to get the money owed from a debtor.UK backs £680m loan guarantee for new high-speed electric railway in Turkey

Train ticket office cull in chaos as crisis talks could last until September
Ministers and train companies have been spooked over legal challenges to how the process has been conducted, amid claims that the 21 day consultation was too short and unlawfulwww.mirror.co.uk
I think there's some truth in that. The Tories I socialise with have a very nostalgic view of how the railway should run.can't be the unlawful bit thats spooked them - I mean they have broken international law with impunity so a bit of local labour laws is nothing - I guess Horace and Hilda in Surbiton acting up over their ticket office closure would be a bigger issue for them
Sorry, what?! Tories and socialise in the same sentence?I think there's some truth in that. The Tories I socialise with have a very nostalgic view of how the railway should run.
