Do you think you would be a better referee

I reffed one game st university once, gave 2 yellows all game. Assessor said I did well.

The next game I reffed and sent of 3 players, booked 6. Assessor said I should have sent off 5 players, and why. Also, that I didn't use the linesmen.

Third game I reffed, I overruled two offsides and sent 2 players off. The assessor said I did well but everyone on the field and at yhe clubhouse hated me. It was such a horrid feeling and I never reffed again.

I admired the senior refs who have had years of experience but mistakes are human. I think the PL and UEFA need a bigger pool of referees, in a way that creates a competitive structure to allow more promotions for excellent work in refereeing. Not an old boys' club.

To be a ref. You have to be like a strict teacher or a disciplined copper/army officer. (Not actually qualifications of course but in terms of controlling the game).

Rugby has that respect and the players accepted the decision even if they don't like it. The refs explain why he gives what he gives to them.

Football I think grassroots is where they need to start bringing in more discipline in to the point where the next generation of footballers don't argue as much as they current ones do.

Mistakes will be made which is natural but with the technology they have. It should be easier to quickly correct them to the point where players aren't surrounding refs about penalty claims.
