Do you think your midfield is strong enough without Nigel?

I don't understand what people have against him. He's helped us a hell of a lot. Strong in the tackle, breaks down play and gets the ball on the floor. Great cover for us. He may not be the best technically but at least he puts fight and effort into performances. I'd rather have him than the pussies down at Arsenal. Oh, and De Rossi over De Jong? Get real.

No one has anything against him - it is just the attitude that he is god that pisses some of us off.

E.g. " De Rossi over De Jong? Get real."

De Rossi is in a different league to De Jong.

You're doubting his qualities in one post and then talking about how it is his persona that pisses you off in another?

De Rossi is waaaaaaay too overrated really. Good in his prime but nothing dazzling these days.

More you than anyone else as your negative involvement in every single thread about De Jong testifies..

De Rossi has been underwhelming to say the least for about two seasons now, buying him would be a calculated risk but we'd expect the old De Rossi back, not the half-arsed one of recent times that would be warming our bench.

Don't think we'll go for him anyway if Hargreaves stays fit.

I don't think we should buy De Rossi I think we should buy M'Vila.

I am not negative about De Jong - read all the positive things I have had to say about him e.g. I would have loved to have seen him come on as a sub against fulham.

However comments like "De Jong is the most important member of the team" drive me mad.

We don't really need to buy anyone.

Agreed, but if we were to buy in any positions it would probably be CB then DM

I am sorry teams do not play down the wings to "circumvent" De Jong. Teams played down the wing because we had 3 excellent central midfielders and 2 excellent cbs, and because Silva gave very little cover to our fbs.

And when Steven Ireland was there, De Jong had such a dominating effect that he was dorpped for the 1st 4 games of the season.
I never said they start playing down the wings to circumvent De Jong, but there are many times you can clearly see they player couldn't be bothered trying to beat a pressing De Jong. Not always, though. It was more of a small point that you've stretched because you find it hard to argue against despite everyone seeing it, but you.

Remember when Silva started on the bench past season? yea

This is the thinking why we got Hargreaves, cos De Jong can do the job of Barry and a holding Yaya combined, so free's up a more attacking player in the formation.

so without De Jong, we tend to go with 2 defensive players (YaYa being more defensive). so De Jong is vital.
