IMO the City app is another example of a marketing team deciding they want an app just for the sake of wanting an app, rather than having it do anything particularly useful or better than other existing solutions.
Team news - ok fine but it’s just a reskin of the website
Lineups and in-game stats - other apps like FotMob and even the Sky and BBC Spot apps do this already, and better.
Tickets and shop - again it’s just a skin of the website
If the app offered something genuinely unique I’d use it. Off the top of my head I’m thinking they could do something awesome with AR during the game, or real time information on queues and detailed stadium map for navigating around the campus.
As it stands it’s just an app for the sake of having an app. I’ve seen far worse designed and built ones but it’s not remotely imaginative which is probably why I downloaded it years ago, forgot it existed and never opened it until reading this thread.
And that’s not a dig at City really - shitloads of businesses do the exact same thing.
