Just discussing this at work, I reckon England will get out of the group but lose their first knock out game.
 
america are a bag of wank. we will win 2-0 in a very dull england style performance.
 
3-0 is well wide of the mark. I could see us getting a goal but I'll still say 2-1 England. I'd be pleased with a draw, obviously this first match will be the toughest but we may well need a point to get out of the group.
 
I dont like to say negative things....and taking into consideration that England are an average team and USA have been playing well, not to mention a VERY dodgy Brazilian ref...I predict (confidently)

2-2 draw (Crouch gets one and Lamps scores a pen)
James drops a clanger for one goal
Rooney sent off straight red in second half
King injured and out for rest of world cup
and finally Terry is caught shagging Capellos 18 year old daughter at half time in the shower.....and gets sent home in disgrace...

it will happen as above says this Irishman (bitter as ireland cheated out of it!)
 
If you look at the talent England should beat the US soundly. Some reason England's talent doesn't come together like you think it should. US have been playing descent in the build up but the defense is suspect. England have been struggling in their build up. That said the build up means about as much as the preseason, nif nodda. Capello's style suits playing better teams. England are not unbeatable nor scare me as a US fan but the US would have to play a perfect game with a little bit of luck like against Spain in the confed cup. If I were English I'd be confident.
 
The USA will win this one 2-1 or possibly 3-1. We are too weak up front and I think we will struggle in defense. My money will be on the USA.
 
We (USA) have no pressure on us at all against England and we have looked good in the run up to the tournament. Everyone is tipping England as a favorite, but the friendlies so far suggest otherwise even though they were wins. If we lose, no big deal, we'll just have to do the business against Algeria and Slovenia. If we win, we will win the group.

I predict a 3-2 USA win, like v. Portugal in 2002.
 
I think the USA will beat us, 1-0.

I think some people who have posted need to wake up- this isn't the USA of 20 years ago. This is the USA that were the last team to beat Spain (in the semis of the confederations cup) and were 2-0 up against Brazil in the final (albeit before imploding). It is not a given that we will beat them.
