Does anybody know the rules

I always go back to “clear and obvious error”, he wasn’t “clearly” offside it wasn’t an “obvious error” decision of penalty should have stood but will all know VAR is a bag-o-shit. Linesmen (or women) not giving obvious offsides and allowing play to continue is another fucking nonsense that’s going to result in needless injuries.

Back to the OP, too much variability in interpreting the rules by individual refs. That’s the problem to me, no one was thinking penalty last night except the ref. Is he pointing to the spot? He’s given a penalty. They retrospectively then say ah yeah that was a penalty. Fucking bonkers.
VAR guessed for the Haaland offside, they had no clue where Gabriel's back foot was as it wasn't shown in any image - surely there should be a camera on both sides of the pitch.

As the title of thread says it’s a complete different set of rules from when I played
I see shirts being pulled all the time sometimes it’s a free kick other times no. Players taking over a minute to put ball back into play no problem others take 30 seconds and booked. Players being fouled but play on then loosing ball so we go back for a free kick but a different team loosing ball after a foul and it’s tough shit. It’s getting more frustrating every game because you never know what decisions will be given for anything that happens on the pitch and it doesn’t help when all the pundits just sit/stand like nodding donkeys agreeing with every decision made by ref. That’s just for starters and it’s driving me crazy
I have seen at the Etihad this year a fair number of goalkeepers taking as long as Eddie 'wasted' last night, and also outfield players taking throw-ins, all of which brought the usual response from the ref - complete fuck all!

The game has gone way beyond the point where it could be dragged back and the LotG applied as they are written AND across both the teams playing. Shirt tugging, wrestling at corners, lectures to players after the third and fourth chop. The refs know that if they apply the Laws their ambition of walking out a Wembers for a final has been well and truly fucked over.

No one seems to know the rules anymore and the inconsistency between similar instances is outrageous.

Remember last night when I think one of their defenders was defending a cross and he headed it onto his own bar, Ake’s shirt was being pulled to fuck in the box and nothing got said. It’s an absolute joke.

Can you imagine if football didn't exist and you were trying to sell your new sport to Dragon's Den armed only with a book called "The Laws of the Game"

I'm out (x4)

Dermot Gallagher fuckface said the penalty was right even though the shot was taken before the minimal and unavoidable contact.... Because the keeper "came out as a defender and not a goal keeper". Literally making shit up now. No wonder the refs are absolute shit.
I still can't get over him saying "It's nice to see one of these given for a change" , or words to that effect, thereby confirming the incident was reffed differently than usual - and that thats a good thing
