Does kolarov and boateng coming back rock the boat?

Both are better defenders, but more importantly, infinitely better going forward. You will note that our game plan remains the same regardless of who is the full back - both Boyata and Zab had extremely high average positions on Saturday. The problem is that their delivery in the final third is poor.

Not at all, it's not that they are strikers and we will have to change our formation, they'll slot in as a straight swap.

Boateng isn't this Cafu style attacking right back like LOADS of people are expecting, he's just the same as Lescott and Richards, a centre back playing full back. So he will not changethe way we play one bit, apart from being a better quality of player.

Kolorov is an attacking full back but we need that as I think Milner tucks inside a lot from the right (I don mean coming in on his right foot, I mean like he is the left sided player of 4 central midefielders, not a left winger) so there is space on that left wing.

It's not like they'll both be coming in at the same time, so there shouldn't be much disruption. And we've not had a stable back four yet this season anyway.

I know he has been bought for RB but Boeteng can play LB and given our current injuries he might be an option there.

I might be pushing the boat out, but, potentially, i think we have two of the best fullbacks going with these two.

Huge units, but quick. Both very comfortable on the ball, both like a tackle and both like to contribute going forward.

Usually fullback like; Evra, Cole, Sagna et al are all quick but slight of build. Others like Ivanovic or Corluka are big but not as mobile.

We've got two complete packages... we'll be a better team going forward and defending with these two in the side and i think they're a big part of Mancini's tactics.

Agree 100%, saves me regurgitating the same.

This is what I've been wondering. I thought he was a centre half too.

Have we bought him as a right back or as a versatile defender?

HE came on at right back at the weekend of course, but Boyata was injured.

My view is that it won't upset the defense, if you read the training reports you will notice how bobby has the team working on shape in defensive positions... so every player knows where they are supposed to be hence why 2 inferior players can play and the defense still looks solid.

Kolarov is a good left back but will not make a big difference to our team. Boateng on the other hand is a superb athletic player that gives the opposition even more problems. When a fully fit Boateng is on the pitch you will notice the difference believe me.

I agree but not with the Kolarov part. He's a left back that can also play as a left winger plus he takes a mean set piece. That set piece we had against Chelsea which Teves took with Milner pushing the wall to one side, would've been Kolarov's had he been in the team. Him and Balotelli are experts at free kicks.

I think he was bought to play right back. It's been pretty obvious to me that Mancini has liked the Kolo/VK partnership since he took over but was always a bit unsure with regards to the full backs

I don't think anyone expects Boateng to be like Cafu but he doesn't need to be, he needs to have the stamina to get up and down which he certainly has from the games i've seen him and he needs to be good on the ball and produce quality in the opposition half and to me theres no doubt he's got that ability
