If Starmer had been in post at the general election it's a fair possibility that Boris wouldn't be in the position he is now with such a majority, and possibly not in office at all, which would be a shame because we wouldn't have had this comedy to lighten the mood

Although I like the way Starmer conducts himself, his downfall in the GE if he was leader would have been his stance on Brexit.

Well to be fair he never once seemed to relinquish the use of his reasonable shovel...he lives in an orbit beyond many, who have their own ideas of 'reasonable' and whose shovels will have been discarded the moment that a press conference looked to have been a good idea...

That is the impression I have - a different worldview of what is considered reasonable.

Bizarre that he didn't inform anyone at no. 10 about what he was doing. Not bizarre that no. 10 didn't think to ask. Almost inconceivable that no-one thought to question that.
