I wasn't ignoring the behaviour of right wing nutters. Their actions are just as despicable.

What a weird world we live in when people actual use an abbreviation of anti-fascists as an insult. I'm sure there are some militant left wing nutters who are utter bellends, but could people really not come up with a better term for them than that? They aren't fascists though, unless you use a very strange definition of fascism. They are massive twats and some of them are dangerous, intolerant extremists, but that doesn't make you a fascist, it's not just a word you can throw around as an insult as it has a proper meaning. I've seen people calling them Nazi's as well, which again, already has a very specific meaning and can't just be thrown around at anyone you don't like.

(I get that people love to throw these words around at anyone who is intolerant or extreme and to an extent they have taken on a wider, less specific meaning, but in political terms they are fairly specific)

Simple terms for fascism include this "Fascism is a form of government which is a type of one-party dictatorship. Fascists are against democracy." the answer would be who do the western anti-fascists think they are fighting? Also totalitarianism isn't just the bastion of the right and considering most of these villains and thugs are Marxists they are by definition supporters of fascism, so they're fascists fighting against fascism.
