Why? I'd imagine with the international clout that America has, they probably could have had talks before now. I'd be interested in the reasons why these talks are now taking place. Is her North Korean fella wanting to get some cash from America to maybe start feeding his people? Is Trump trying to piss off China by talking to the North? Does Don want to open a golf course in North Korea??
NK foreign policy has had one major objective for decades and that is a sit down with the US President. It’s a major coup for Kim. Clinton came close but the feeling was that it would be a win for NK with nothing concrete to show for it from the US side.
Kim now has nukes and (he says) a delivery system so he has put his chips on the table and got his sit down. Question is what does he have to give up. Scale back on nuke and rocket testing? Can see that being on the table. Total nuclear disarmament? Can’t see that given the nukes got him the sit down so why give away your leverage?
Personally I see it being an ego stroking photo op for both parties but you never know. Some good may come of it. Better than yelling insults over Twitter I guess.
