NK foreign policy has had one major objective for decades and that is a sit down with the US President. It’s a major coup for Kim. Clinton came close but the feeling was that it would be a win for NK with nothing concrete to show for it from the US side.

Kim now has nukes and (he says) a delivery system so he has put his chips on the table and got his sit down. Question is what does he have to give up. Scale back on nuke and rocket testing? Can see that being on the table. Total nuclear disarmament? Can’t see that given the nukes got him the sit down so why give away your leverage?

Personally I see it being an ego stroking photo op for both parties but you never know. Some good may come of it. Better than yelling insults over Twitter I guess.

True and he has felt confident enough to leave the country which surprised me a little. There is a reasonable track record of dictators being toppled once they are out of the country so I guess Kim and Trump will be checking back in with home base every hour or so. Just to be on the safe side :)
 
Its funny really in a lot of ways...
If Obama had somehow managed to pull off this meeting with Kim Jong-un which is one-to-one and man-for-man (only translators present) then he would have been lauded and praised from the heavens. Another Nobel Peace Prize on his mantelpiece without a doubt,
However 'The Donald' does somehow, against all of the odds amazingly, manages to pull it off and he gets ridiculed.
people need to stop following the media narrative and see what he is actually doing with this.
It may be difficult, if not impossible for some on here but for this one you just have to say credit where credit is due to him.

Has it not crossed your mind that it’s actually Kim’s achievement to secure a meeting with the US President not the other way round. Any North Korean leader would have jumped at the chance to meet any US president to give them credibility on the world stage. Trump has been played by Kim.

Spin it how you like fella but at least he is having a go.
Very easy to criticise and mock but a bit more difficult to actually
make things happen, get things done and try to move things forward
with your own actions. As I say - if this was Obama would you honestly say the same?

Obama wouldn’t have been this gullible.

What a laughable statement, the US could have have sat down with North Korea anytime they wanted to, if they (the US), weren't so arrogant and provocative to North Korea in the first place.

It has become increasingly clear over the last few months, that it is the US that has always been the obstacle to peace between the two Koreas.

It's almost as if the US is a giant war machine always looking to manufacture conflicts to justify it's obscene spending on weapons.
