Donald Trump

You stated it the way the left likes it stated. But let me ask a different question, had Biden not been a 'possible rival' will it be okay for a President to ask that another country investigate possible corruption involving members of the family of a previous administration?

And When Trump leaves office, should Tulsi (Yeah she's hopefully the next President :p) be able to ask Saudi Arabia to investigate Trump dealings? Or should she be impeached if Trump Jnr jumps in the race as a 'potential opponent'?

Like I said, don't like what he did. But I can smell a rat. And while we are on it, I do want Biden, his son and their Burissma crew investigated! Regardless of whether Trump gets removed or voted out next November.

You ask a "different question" because you don't like the answer to the one the rest of us keep asking.

"I don't like what he did . . . but I do want Biden and his kid investigated!" Exactly. The ends justify the means is your moral code. That's fine, but I don't share that view.

If this were all about politics, Reagan and Obama would have been impeached; in fact, we'd have impeachment any time we had aggressive, outspoken divisions and factions within the legislature, which is nearly always.

And my take on Blueinsa’s substantive point is that their was integrity in the senate then. Not necessarily with Nixon.
Integrity may be overstretching it, but at least the Republicans then saw that public opinion was against them and chose to do something about it.
Nowadays the way seems to be denial and brazen it out.

"Integrity in the Senate"? Not any more so than today, until the Republicans made the realization that a) the President had lied for 18 months per the smoking gun tape and b) public opinion had so turned against Nixon (which began with the Saturday Night Massacre) that the Republican party was at risk of wholesale defeat in 1976 if Nixon stayed on.

That isn't happening this time because Republicans espoused Republican (i.e. conservative) principles then. It was the platform that mattered. That's what they were trying to defend. Not now. Now it's a cult. It's the personality that matters. So if Trump is destroyed it utterly destroys the Republican party. When Nixon was destroyed, it only destroyed Nixon. The Republicans came back a mere six years after Nixon, after the mess of the Carter administration, with Reagan.

Today the Republican party is Trump Party. All Republicans who disagree either get on board or are cast out as RINOs, or quit (Jeff Flake, Paul Ryan). It's why Never-Trump conservatives are a source of reason in all of this.

You people are so annoying with this 'right side of history' nonsense. Too many showing too little God damned sense!.

What we are seeing here is partisan buffoonery. On both sides. To think is anything other, is just Foggy-foolery.
No, what you're seeing is the application of the constitution and nothing more.

Just because you hitched your wagon to the "he'll not be impeached" wagon months, if not years, ago doesn't mean you've to be precious now.

I find the republican changing their vote very suspect, being able to change their minds is open to all kinds of threats and pressure
To be fair, BBC were saying on their coverage that it's not uncommon for people to press the wrong button (as there's three and not simply yes/no) and some write their vote in for reliability; also why it could have seemed there was lots still had not voted with seconds to go.

Also it takes a while to rig the car battery to a set of bollocks I'm told.

Are you telling me that people running the country can't cope with pressing one button out of 3? when we vote we can't change our minds,no wonder politics is fucked lol

The people running that country put children in cages.

Common sense is alien to them.

On one of the votes I noticed votes going in after the time was up. I wondered if this was clerks entering them from paper ballots or something. The odd vote kept popping up in unexpected columns then changing quickly to the expected one.

Yeah i think i heard sky saying that some are paper votes,it seems a very fucked up voting system

What people are still missing in this whole sorry saga is that Russia are still free to f*ck with the 2020 election because Mitch McConnell is holding up legislation designed to protect future elections from outside interference. And you have to wonder why he is doing this and who stands to benefit.

No doubt he'll publicly blame the impeachment for getting in the way of the 'normal legislative process'.

Yes Because he definitely did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. That’s why he immediately broke protocol and moved the transcript of the call to a secure top secret server and hasn’t given the investigation full access yet and of course it’s also why he won’t let anyone in his administration testify which would surely exonerate him? Yep, nothing to see here, just partisan buffoonery
Cuntish cuntery more like.

I see there's a split between him and Trump.

Shitgibbon wants full trial with witnesses etc. I think Moscow Mitch should agree with his president. Shares in Popcorn would go through the roof.
