Donald Trump

Its not a rule but it is protocol - a slight bow from the waist from a man a shallow knee curtsy from a female. Nobody touches the Queen without her say so - ie offers her hand for a handshake. And no bare arms from ladies for some reason - Michelle Obama had a sleeveless dress when they met and that was seen as "bad form". HMQ didn't recoil in shock or anything nor was Michelle taken out by a sniper on the palace roof.

Anyone bowing to the Queen seems ludicrous to me, but pretty sure it’s not protocol for the President to do it.

Same here. It's archaic really. I like the Queen but the bowing is like something from the times when the word Majesty had connotations that have no relevance today.
I don't like Trump but this whole argument that he should have bowed shows a lack of historical insight imo.

Not bowing is no big deal but walking in front of her then stopping so she has to walk round him is bad form as it would be with any 92 year old woman. But respecting women, whatever their age, is not something I’d associate with Trump.

I repeat that I'm no fan of Trump. Far from it. Yet I don't see what he did as disrespectful, more a novice getting stuff wrong in the protocol world.

The commonwealth summit in London not too long ago produced every deviant imaginable and bizarly no protests on this grande-scale took place. Not even a sniff from our LGBT communities which is a tad daunting and surprising when you consider that most of those invited leaders criminalized homosexuality so yes I say lots of double standards with a pinch of selective emperor bashing.Inferring other heads of states don't come up to the same mark as the head of the US of A is quite frankly a cop out.

Ask yourself this Trevor would it be OK and diplomatically sound to launch a blip of prince Mohammed of Saudie dressed in a frock with loads of verbal abuse emblazoned everywhere and would the good mayor Sadiq allow it to fly in the name of equality and freedom to express..Would he fook as like and khan should spend more of his precious time sorting out the mayham and madness on his own smoldering door step with 89 murder investigations this year as opposed to 50 in New York. Back in 2017 we witnessed the hundred mark being broke so do get your own gaff in order mr kahn lest you embarrass yourself further with your righteous quest to Donald bash. You have much work to do lad.

In the wise words of Liam Fox the large scale protests against the US President in London and other cities on Friday "did not reflect the genuine good manners and hospitality of the British people".I cant really argue against that however on a lighter note and regardless of opinion on this intriguing subject matter do all enjoy a splendid weekend in the sun with highs today of 27c and much of sameness for tomorrow.Sorry to impose but I wanted to answer Trevor on his courteous reply to my earlier post of 17212.
As you all were:
Whataboutery at its finest as well as spelling and grammar I’d expect from an 8 year old. Pretty much as expected.

Bowing to the Queen, fuck that, she's lucky not to stood against a wall with the rest of her dysfunctional family of scroungers.

I repeat that I'm no fan of Trump. Far from it. Yet I don't see what he did as disrespectful, more a novice getting stuff wrong in the protocol world.
In the scheme of things it’s no big deal but it’s indicative of the disregard he has for what most people expect as acceptable behaviour.

I think it was more disrespectful to say what he said to the Sun - lie about it only hours later when we had already heard the recording of what he said then hours after that "promote" Johnson for PM when she was stood 3 feet away from him. Staggeringly disrespectful in fact.

Agreed.
