You seem to think that's an overwhelming point; it isn’t. Being able to articulate yourself isn’t the be all and end all, intelligence wise. I’m hugely articulate, but I know people who are far less articulate than me, who I consider to be more intelligent.

The only thing Trump is good at is getting people to do his bidding for him and getting people to do his thinking for him, purely because he has the means to do it. That doesn't make him smart, it just means he's a skilled manipulator. Babies can do that with a flutter of their eyelashes, or a cry. It's instinctive.

You can extremely smart and not have the tools to articulate your ideas, I'm with you on that. Trump is still as thick as mince though.
 
Only took Trump one month to kill as many Americans via pandemic as Obama managed in 8 whole years.

And I know without any shadow of a doubt that he’s a narcissist, again by the clinical definition.

But I don’t think he’s stupid.

I think he knows full well the diabolical things he says will benefit him in some way, and that’s why he says them.

I just don’t think someone could possibly become President with an IQ of 73. How could he outmanoeuvre all of the contenders in the Primary and then outmanoeuvre Hillary in the election if his intelligence was that limited?

Trump didn't outmanoeuvre his rivals in the primary all by himself, there were some let's say 'outside influences'. Once he was the candidate, the GOP had no choice but to pull out all the stops and get behind him 100%. The reopening of the Clinton e-mail investigation just days before the election pretty much sealed it for Trump, and that certainly wasn't a strategy he engineered.
 
It’s not that he’s dumb, it’s that he’s LAZY. He sounds uneducated because he IS uneducated. He’s been spoiled his entire life and as many have said has never had to live with the consequences of his actions. He doesn’t read briefing books. He rarely takes advice. He goes off script because he’s inconceivably undisciplined in every way and has absolutely no impulse control — and that’s what his supporters love about him. He receives adulation for being unscripted because scripted is so boring, and often scripted means using big words and measured tones. How many evangelical preachers have EVER done that? None, that’s how many. The richest are the loudest, the most outrageous and the flashiest — just like radio and TV Types like Rush and Laura et al. And when you have no moral compunction about fleecing people, you get away with it. Now along comes a guy who is the literal textbook embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins. His laziness (interpreted as being “off the cuff”) is his charm.

Because they are desperate and/or morons.
