Donald Trump

Gave this thread a miss for a few days, in that time (it get's worse with each bullet point):

  • Trump hung up on the Australian prime-minister
  • White nationalists Richard Spencer and Milo Yiannopoulos praise Trumps dropping of mentioning Jew's in Holocaust Memorial Statement.
  • His spokesperson invented a terrorist massacre.
  • He had phone call with Putin but switched off the required phone recorder.
  • Passes resolution ending the stream pollution protection rule
  • Threatened to invade Mexico
  • General Flynn threatened Iran
  • Rex Tillerson (who has been given the medal of honour by Russia and has huge ties to Russian oil businesses through him being former head of Exxon Mobil) has been confirmed secretary of state. He wants to relax Russian sanctions to allow oil pumped through Ukraine.
  • Removed part of Dodd-Frank that barred companies secretly paying companies for oil and mineral rights (see appointment of Rex Tillerson.)

Missed about the war in South China

I'll tell you something for Trump.

It's shows up The West Wing, Designated Survivor and House of Cards of complete bollocks.

The main protagonists in each spend their entire time worrying about opinion polls and horse trading to manage to do anything.

Trump has shown that even a complete fuck-stick, surrounded by unintelligible spunk-griffins can basically do whatever the fuck they want and not give a fuck about what either house or even the public thinks.

Ah, that makes sense.
My understanding of that comment is that normally the recording of every phone call is released, but not for a call to Putin. Is that right?

That's right.

Russia released a transcript of the hour long call, the white house did not.

I think that shows the difference between pushing something through congress and doing stuff by executive order. Trump has used the latter pretty much exclusively as far as I'm aware.

Oh absolutely. But so could any of the pretend people in the shows.

My point is that people won't take that stuff seriously now. We all were led to believe that the US was a nation of checks and balances but in reality it's not. Trump has performed a coup-lite, installed his people, purged departments and seems happy to do everything by executive order.

It people aren't terrified by that then there is something wrong with them.

Essentially he's decided to be a dictator, which I imagine most of us assumed he would do

Haha, very true!

Those shows always show great schemers and intellects thinking of every conceivable outcome. Not a guy in the highest office tweeting at 3am about Arnold Schwarzenegger's ratings.

You're right. I thought it a nice touch that whilst Trump could do whatever he wanted over the pond, our supreme court ruled that parliament was sovereign and the government didn't have carte blanche to do whatever they liked. Not that I believed Gina Miller's motives at all...
