In the last fortnight Ariana Grande has been the victim of a terrorist attack in Manchester, has established a fund to help the victims of that attack, and has arranged a huge international concert attended by 55,000 people and televised internationally to benefit that fund.
In the same time Donald Trump has pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and has picked a fight on twitter with the Mayor of London the day after a separate terrorist attack.
Words cannot express how much gratitude and affection we all feel for a young woman with no previous connection to Manchester other than that some of her fans live there and how much admiration there is for what she has achieved in so short a time. But it is truly a sad day for US politics when a 23 year old singer with a fan base predominantly consisting of teenage girls is doing far more to promote the special relationship than the President of the United States.
