Donald Trump

I think the counter to that is what I believe is the early indication that blue turnout will be very strong. Thats really all we can do — show up in numbers too large to be manipulated. The lines for early voting in Virginia are massive (yes I used that word).
Oh, I have been saying the turnout will be vital and will be very strong for some time now. And that it’s all we can do, really. I was one of those saying Biden’s lead would stay fairly high, whilst many others said it would degrade (perhaps even completely) as we got closer to the election.

But I have also said that you really shouldn’t put that much hope in that being enough this cycle. I am not sure voters will be able to turnout in numbers that will prevent the sort of manipulation we are going to see.

What do I know, though, I haven’t been right about anything up until now. I am just a doom monger.

So I’ll make everyone happy and shut up about it. ;-)

It’s been a loooong 4 years, so I can’t remember...

Was the word “****” invented FOR Trump, or did he just elevate it to a new zenith?
Not invented for him but he has certainly elevated it to a new level of “genocidal ****”.

I have long been against ‘specific’ violent action as a resolution to the nightmare that is taking place in America as a matter of principle (as it could create a martyrdom that could actually be worse)...

But with every day that passes the alternative remedies seem less and less viable.

I genuinely hope @FogBlueInSanFran’s optimism about the result of the general election and Trump’s response to accept it is borne out in November and beyond.

I rarely use the word, saving it for special usage when talking about Thatcher or Ferguson...but certainly applicable in this instance.
Even with my little knowledge of US politics, from what i had seen and heard about RBG, it will indeed be a huge loss. It has also, so quickly, become yet another issue to polarise this whole election.
I didnt really think that the US could get any more divided than it is at present, but I do think that the next nomination/appointment and the whole Roe Vs Wade arguement will add so much more to the election and the split across the country.

Scary scary times...but then we live in democracys and we have to accept "the will of the people".

As long as those “people” are not a a small team of especially dapper ursine hackers in a basement somewhere in Novosibirsk.

You should use it more, I find it therapeutic

Democracy doesn't work in a 2 party state where 1 party defines itself by openly acting against democracy.

One day, the Democrats will wake up, and the Republicans will be absolutely fucked. They have a massive numerical advantage and allow the Republicans to cheat, lie and steal their way to parity. It won't last.

Unless the democratic republic doesn’t last.

That is what is at stake in this election.
