It is a legitimate network marketing... enterprise!

I don't think we'll ever fully know the truth about Ivanka, and frankly, I'm not sure I want to. I don't think there is enough Mind Bleach on the planet.

Trumps “Good People”
"..... on both sides".

Although not in this case, as these 'dirty' Dem's are trying to cheat the electoral process by actually having the audacity to try and vote early.

How dare they!!!

Don't worry TMT, the good ol boys are there to protect democracy.

Trump now questioning whether Ginsburg wrote her dying wish that her place not be filled till after the election. Says maybe one of the Democrats wrote it for her. Low, even for him. What a nasty **** he is.

He genuinely doesn't give a f*ck who he upsets as long as he thinks it benefits him.

Vile c*nt.

The US Constitution is wank.*
*In a few important ways, as it stands, especially as the US government refuses to ****ing amend it now, no matter how anachronistic some of it becomes.

I would print that on a bumper sticker and slap it on my car but it’s a bit long and I have a feeling it would lead me to needing to buy a new vehicle, even around here.

It’s words on paper, if the powers that be just ignore it, you might as well wipe your arse on it, it saddens me

What I have been shouting from the rooftops for ages now.

The blind faith in rule of law of constraining an aspiring autocrat backed by a corrupt ruling party by many here has disturbed me, as I have seen what that has done first hand in other countries in the world (once while it was ****ing happening)!

Was chatting to my old boss today, he’s very high up in my old industry, I didn’t have many, bosses that is and I wasn’t exactly a foot soldier, the Americans have a big stake these days, he didn’t come as a happy bunny, he’s just hoping the storm blows over.

I don’t know how it works in the US, but to amend ours in Ireland takes a referendum.
Andyhinch is right though. It is the law. If it’s so easy not to uphold it what’s the point.
You are right to be worried. You are straying into very dark territory over there.

I have had some mixed interactions with business people I know. Some are very frightened by what potentially lies ahead (both because of the pandemic but also the prospect of a Trump dictatorship). Some love him, as he is a “useful idiot”, to borrow a term, and he allows many industries to get away with (in some cases literal) murder. The latter category I don’t get on with, as you can imagine.

The US constitution can’t be ammended via referendum. Though it is a relatively long and difficult process, my understanding is that’s not generally why it hasn’t substantively happened since 1971 (I think it is fair not to count the 27th amendment, as it was a ‘minor’ procedural ammendment effecting only Congressional salary changes).

From my reading, it seems to be mostly down to a lack of political will stemming largely from from a conservative, ‘originalist’ view of the text and American political culture. It leads to a resistance to wanting to change what is now seen as a sort of ‘scared text’ by many. But I may be incorrect. @FogBlueInSanFran could provide much more insight there than me.

Here is more information about the process if you have any interest:

By they way, I am not sure if you have gathered already, but I am not American. I and my Swiss missus (and parts of her family) just live in the US. I am very invested in how things progress here for many reasons that I have outlined elsewhere in this thread, including because Americans and non-Americans here I care about are being (and will be) significantly impacted as things degrade. And the world is a much more dangerous place when one of the largest economies, with one of the biggest militaries, falls to fascism and autocratic rule.

I have other signficant concerns with how things are going in my home countries (UK and Spain) but that is for a different thread, which I no longer participate in for my own sanity. :-)

If I post enough Iaw of averages I’ll get one right ;-)
Well I’ve posted enough about us voting to change ours and how important that was in relation to the GFA and Brexit.

Having a written constitution is important in my book.
I don’t think a government should be able to change it or get around it without the consent of the people.
