Donald Trump

I'm all for shutting down fascism.
Me too. Which is why I have voted and will continue to vote against those associated with the GOP every time, all the time, until the party is finished or until the party disavows authoritarianism. And maybe not even then.

Progressives Democrats are not the enemy, nor are moderate Democrats. The GOP is.

Of course some especially progressive folks (who should be termed regressives) or sham moderates long for authoritarianism nearly as much as fascists do. But it's not de rigueur as a platform plank as it is currently for the GOP. That's individual Democrats, not a systemic belief requirement as it is for the GOP now.

Let me ask you; if you were hungry and fighting for your family and you spent your life voting for nice politicians with all the rhetoric and no tangible differences for your family's lives, would you be tempted to vote for someone who offered to break that chain even if he was a piece of shit?
And that's why it's a simple and effective political move.

A charismatic character comes along, claiming to be different from the establishment. Using divisive language and blaming others for "stealing what is yours."

I honestly don't know my answer to your question as I abhor the hate rhetoric of fascism.

Then again I'm a human being and we're all hypocritical in our beliefs at some point in our lives.

It works well on the hopeless, the desperate, the stupid and the gullible. They've been preyed upon by snake oil salespeople of commercial, political and religious persuasions for generations. Of course, said persuasions are often entirely commercial, regardless of how they're cloaked. Tell them it's not their fault, then sell them a solution to all their ills. Works a charm.

Of course, the morally-grounded don't do this. The morally-grounded recognize that helping the most people is the right course of action sometimes, and helping those who need it most (even if they aren't "the most") is the right course of action others. They know the difference. And it is never -- NEVER -- always one to the exclusion of the other.

Think some forget many voted for him because he was a celebrity, such is America’s obsession for ‘entertainment’ rather than your average politician - Chuck in a celebrity who can incite racism, be misogynistic, pretend to be religious and build a wall against migrants and there’s many millions (not starving, not poor, not desperate) who will lap that up.

The c*nt should have been done at "grab 'em by the pussy".

Exactly.

Which is why I abhor the screaming know-it-alls who point their collective finger at the 'crazy' voter who is castigated for voting for hopeful change. Biden is down to 38% in popularity, Harris 28%.

That's not 'love' being shown.

This is also why the other posters on here will never understand the real meat and bones of the struggling working class voter.

Really? You don't think people might have been in similar situations themselves or have friends or family members that were.

Or is it just easier to accuse people of being white middle class liberals without knowing their circumstances?

Hopeful change isn't really the same as fear mongering hate speech.

My gosh, some don't understand their own nonsense!

If it's okay to 'hold your nose' and vote for Biden, who's to say it wrong the other way around when 'change' (Dem promises) does not see much change in real terms?

It's astonishingly short sighted and why I don't get into this type of politics anymore.

It's futile and circular and people never understand how really committing to doing something for the backbone of any country would keep the 'right' party in power.

It really isn't hard to understand unless you make it hard to understand.

Is this kind of stubbornness not in any way influenced by Noam Chomsky backing Biden as the lesser of two evils and stating that voters should always vote for the least worse candidate throughout his career as an activist?

Or is he just another WML?

Geez.

Never getting it.

How many strikes are there now, Stateside? How many people quit their jobs in Aug? No healthcare in the middle of a pandemic and being told by Dems, constantly, that 'healthcare is a Human right', but only if you have the means to access it with $8k deductibles in a lot of cases and Biden keeps his $8M from the private healthcare/ Big Pharma industries!

Still no wage increasing as a national order whilst food and bills go up and your local billionaire taxes go down.

The 'lesser of two evils' to ever diminishing returns.

Meh, keep wringing your hands whilst the answer slaps you in the face. Keep your incrementalism and then scream at the voters for being desperate whilst working for Wall St.

Honestly...
