To be perfectly honest, who can blame them? Trump is a hero/victim now, and Democrats don't even know who their candidate is going to be. I believe Trump is such a threat it doesn't matter to my own personal decision, but it sure does to plenty of others.

I've stayed in general out of this discussion because, as I've noted, after Biden won I suggested he announce he'd be a one-term President to avoid precisely the scenario Democrats now face, and I even half-expected he would. So what's happening now just makes me sad.

You might not want it or be happy with it. Chamberlain wasn't happy with Hitler taking over the Sudetenland, but he took it in the hope it would stave off another world war. After all, Hitler was only taking over the "German" areas of Chechoslovakia.

There's even less reason to trust Putin (who is open about wanting all of Ukraine), and give Russia territory that means Ukraine has to defend not just a northern border but an eastern and southern border as well.

Don’t know if anyone has watched The Boys on Prime but the last episode had just dropped and the comparisons with a Trump presidency are spot on, be afraid very afraid.
 
When I see what appears to be the 'inevitable' victory of Donald Trump in this years US elections, I feel like I'm living in some parallel universe where the human race has completely lost it's mind and there is a reality somewhere that this isn't really happening.

There is no two ways about it, the man attempted to overthrow a legitimate democratic election and won't even commit to accepting the result of this one (he will if he wins). That, is simply by every metric of the definition fascism and the American population are sleep walking into. You listen to the Trump–Raffensperger phone call and it's clear as day, the man is asking/pressurising the Georgian Secretary of State to literally overturn the democratic vote to keep himself in power. Nobody in the media seems to be arsed about this anymore, people seem to shrug their shoulders like it's no big thing, it's literally fascism.

This time round I doubt the constitution will hold as firm as anybody in any position of power will have to be a Trump loyalist. I sometimes hear people say the Democrats should prepare for 2028, on what basis is a man and his cult like followers going to accept any result other than their dear leader or his spouse ever being elected again?

Far too early to be throwing in the towel. The recent polls are not too bad, even up in some.
If KH takes the reins then it's popcorn time when she takes on Trump. She ain't no Hilary and she will shore up the African American and female vote

Trump has hit a ceiling, he cannot go higher. I guarantee you the MAGA mob want Biden to stay in the race.
