Don't Bang the Drum.

Re: She Bang's The Drum

Good luck with this Ste, I,m sure it will work but we defo need to get away from different sections of the ground split by the away fans. ONE NOISE from one section, the rest of the ground will join in as they do now

Re: She Bang's The Drum

Theres an EDS game on Tuesday against Wolves which is being played at the Etihad, how about trial it then. And its free admission.

Why Always Ste said:
A drum is being talked about for use with The Citizens Movement.
This group's main aim is to try and implement European style atmosphere like we've seen at The Etihad with the likes of Aris, Poznan, and more recently Borussia Dortmund.

Most of the teams will use a Drum(s) but this drum is usually more rhythmic and used with the sole intention of keeping a song going.
Rather than being the main force behind a song, and heard all over the ground (like at Wigan) the drum will work with your voice...

if there's no singing you'll rarely hear the drum.

This drum will not be the main piece of generating noise, like you have heard at the likes of Wigan Athletic/Blackburn/Bolton and with the band at England Games.

We will be trialling the use of the drum at a forthcoming Next-Gen Series game against Juventus at Ewen Fields, Hyde.

The rehearsals will be completely this - rehearsals.

Mistakes will be made, but this is how we can progress and start to improve atmosphere.
We won't be in The Etihad, but this is the solution:

If you want to sing & be colourful come along to this and we can then group all the singers together and create a wall of sound and colour...Just like many other European clubs do.

if you are not for this, don't turn up. Simples.

This should be in the other thread !
the atmosphere was great today - simply because enough people joined in the singing.
I and many others are fundamentally opposed to the drum - you must have a few other ideas up your sleaves that dont rely on banging a drum??

There has to be a reason why Eoropean teams can get atmosphere's going that we can only dream of and I reckon it's the stiff upper lip.

I say the scarf showing would be a start. The Poznan has stopped because people started to think it wasn't cool anymore. We need to get past this attitude. I'm not sure the drum would be an answer but I'm open to it if it's not going to be an England style which the OP has said it wouldn't.

First things first though, the fans need to listen to the actual tune of "This Is How It Feels" before singing it again and almost all fans are singing "scores when he wants" so it's time this went the way of "City 'til I die."

Re: She Bang's The Drum

a atmoshpere bein rehersed ? you cant reherse a atmosphere plus bluemoon has the smallest percentage of match goin fans than u would realise most people at the ground have never even heard of this website

Re: She Bang's The Drum

What happened to that band that walk round the ground before the game singing " we love you city we do" and "were not really here" in the style of frank sidebottom?

Get them involved.

Re: She Bang's The Drum

The common negative comments that I am hearing from people are they think:

1) It's going to be a full musical band, like England's.

2) Just because the likes of Wigan and Blackburn can't create an atmosphere with a drum they immediately assume that we can't as well.

...

Firstly, I can't recall anyone on this forum ever proposing anything about a full musical band.

Secondly, the reason it doesn't work at Wigan or Blackburn is because they have mediocre attendances and appalling support. We get 47,000+ most weeks and can generate decent volume when people pull their fingers out. It would be ludicrous to compare us with them.

If people sing, you won't notice the drum, fact.

End of rant.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, but no one would ever notice the drum was there!

Why take one then?

And if it's not hard to get songs going without some help, why are we struggling so much?

Many reasons, mainly people are spread out round the ground and not in one main area. No proper standing area maybe? Away games are easier to get songs going as eveyone is in the same end. It doesn't take a drum to get the songs going at away games either does it?[/quote]

We'll take one because it keeps the rhythm going and sustains the song so we sing it for longer than 10 seconds so others around the ground can join in.

...

Proper standing area? We stand as it is, that's no excuse. We tried giving the whole SS to City fans remember, it didn't work. Away games arn't the problem by the way.

Look, If people want to attempt to improve our home atmosphere then people should let them get on with it. We've got nothing to lose. People just need to give it a chance not be so set in their ways.

If that's the case, what's the need of the drum?

Because it will keep the rhythm going and sustain the songs longer than 10 seconds so others around the ground can actually join in before it ends. Getting other people involved rather than one little section.

It get's them a small majority going at Blackburn and Wigan but their numbers are so low that the volume isn't enough. They don't have enough singers to pull it off.

I've not looked but I imagine there's posts on United forums laughing at all this drum nonsense. I know I would.

Re: She Bang's The Drum

I definitely want a drum going on, it is the only way to keep everybody in time and keep the rhythm of the songs going for sustained periods of time in my opinion.

Re: She Bang's The Drum

Imagine Helen was alive now and told Bluemoon she was taking a bell to games. She'd be hounded off the forum and be put off the idea! I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
