Hypothetical question and don't want to hijack the thread, but imagine it's the last match of the season, 95th minute, 1-1. Utd match is over and we need to win this match to win the league. Balotelli's on the bench for whatever reason and we get a penalty. Would you/would you want Mancini to put Balotelli on to take the penalty?

I may be wrong on this but I wouldn't think that the ref would be able to permit a substitution until after the penalty was taken.

It would be an insane loophole in the laws of the game that allows a manager to bring on an expert penalty taker after a penalty has already been awarded.

Didn't Wigan do this recently (seem to remember Watson putting one away, after being brought on for that purpose - but I'm not 100% certain!)

course u can make a sub when the pen is awarded, what do u think happens when someone is sent off???
wigan did do it this season away at stoke watson came on

This might have appeared to have evaded everyones attention, but in hindsight (a wonderful thing I know) it would have been better if Swansea had have scored the penalty then we'd have had 85 minutes to equalise and win the game rather than less than 10 as it turned out. We obviously didn't see the penalty miss as a wake up call so had they scored things might have been different.
